Internal Control Officer

**Main job function**

Internal control (“IC”) has been implemented to ensure the integrity of financial and accounting information, safeguard Bank assets, meet operational and profitability targets and promote operational efficiency, transmit management policies throughout the organization, encourage adherence to policies and procedures and strengthen the control environment.

As an Internal Control Officer, you will be responsible for the following key tasks:
**Retail and Banking**
- Investment Transaction Account (ITA)
- Pledged Accounts
- ATM Balances
- Overdrawn Accounts
- Activation of Dormant Accounts
- 3rd Party Deposits
- Electronic Deposits
- Dormant Accounts
- Identification of Mule Accounts
- Employee Confirmation Visits
- EFT Deposits and Withdrawals greater than the stipulated CTR threshold
- Tax free investment accounts (above and below thresholds)
- Monitoring of Investment / PA accounts (below thresholds)
- Monitoring of premature withdrawals on investment accounts
- Movement in SIA and JJ accounts
- CIFs on iMAL incorrectly classified
- TB accounts opened with NIL balances
- TB accounts opened and closed within a short space of time
- TB accounts - High Balances
- Segregation of duties on TB accounts
- Tax free investments with more than one withdrawal in the fiscal year

**Finance**
- Back/Future dated value transactions
- Manual / Adjusting / Reversing Entries
- FTA suspense account
- Forex suspense account
- Bank reconciliations (long standing amounts not cleared)
- Suspense accounts
- Review of unpaid debit orders
- Daily bank limits (Bank limit / utilization report)

**Regulatory monitoring**
- Movement in the number of clients flagged as non-compliant
- Non complaint accounts without debit holds
- Clients with no risk score
- SAS Registration/Status Irregularities
- SAS Forex Notes
- Client flagged as non-complaint with no hold placed on Transactional banking
- FICA Tracker
- Customers that are FICA compliant with missing / invalid information

**Treasury**
- Standard Chartered Accounts (Breach in exposure limits)
- Nostro reconciliations
- Carry over schedules

**Central Operations**
- Trade Transactions Accounts (TTA)
- Advances Transactions Accounts (ATA)
- Wakala Transactions Accounts (WTA)
- Enterprise Transaction Accounts (ETA)
- Unit Trust Transaction Accounts (UTA)
- Cash Transaction Accounts (CTA)
- Trade Inflows and Outflows

**Credit**
- New Advances in Arrears
- Trust due to expire
- Release of cash collaterals (Monitoring of pledges)
- Non finalized deals

**IT Monitoring**
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) access
- VPN Access outside South Africa
- Match active users to HR list
- Users with multiple user IDs (On Enterprise)
- Monitoring downtime
- Patch Management

Qualifications:
**QUALIFICATION**:

- A BCom degree (audit / risk background) or Relevant Qualification will be required in order to meet the requirements of the role at the highest level of competence. Knowledge and understanding of the control environment to mitigate risk is advantageous.

**Experience**:
**EXPERIENCE**:

- A minimum of 3 - 4years of Banking experience with a preferred audit / control background will be required for this position.
- Knowledge of Shariah principles is required.
