Commercial Associates at Traderoot Africa play a crucial role in supporting our Commercial team in driving revenue growth across the African continent. Their primary responsibility is to assist with generating leads, cross-selling and renewals with a focus on smaller-sized clients within SADC and the rest of Africa. In addition to reaching out to these customers in the Fintech/Payments sector, they assist with commercial administration and smaller revenue growth initiatives in line with our commercial strategy. The Commercial Associate should have experience within the SADC region or work with clients within the SADC region or the rest of Africa. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity to learn the intricacies of Fintech/Payments sales.

**Primary responsibilities**
- **Commercial support**

Assist the Commercial team members in prospecting for and identifying potential clients.

Collaborate with the team to prepare commercial presentations, proposals and contracts.

Attend commercial meetings and client presentations to observe and learn effective commercial techniques.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and commercial activities.

Build relationships with new clients and retain existing clients.
- **Market research**

Conduct research to understand the Fintech industry, market trends and competitors, and potential clients in the African Fintech space.

Identify emerging market opportunities and potential niches for Traderoot Africa products and services.

Analyse and report on market data to help refine commercial strategies.

Maintain and regularly update the CRM system with relevant data.
- **Client engagement**

Develop relationships with existing clients and partners to understand their needs and gather feedback.

Assist in responding to client enquiries and addressing their concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Support the process of taking on new clients and ensuring a smooth transition.

Assist in co-ordinating client meetings, demonstrations, conferences and industry events.
- **Sales Process Involvement**

Actively participate in the entire commercial cycle from lead generation to deal closure.

Support in negotiating and closing smaller deals under the guidance of the senior team members.

Ensure cross-selling of smaller opportunities for Product, Delivery and Managed Services departments.

Assist in tracking and reporting on commercial performance metrics.

Assist in solid pipeline growth.
- **Product knowledge**

Gain a deep understanding of Traderoot Africa Payments products and services.

Stay updated on product updates and enhancements.

Be able to effectively communicate the value proposition of our offerings to clients.

**Collaboration**

Work closely with other teams, including Marketing, Product Development and Project Management to ensure seamless service delivery to customers in Africa.

Assist in co-ordinating internal resources to meet client expectations and project timelines.
- **Training and development**

Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance commercial skills and industry knowledge.

Seek mentorship from senior Commercial team members to accelerate learning.

Pro-actively seek feedback and demonstrate a commitment to continued improvement.
- **Sales administration**

Assist in maintaining commercial databases and systems for tracking leads, opportunities and client interactions.

Help to generate regular reports and analyses to support decision-making.

**Skills**
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain client relationships
- Analytical thinking with the ability to conduct detailed market research and identify opportunities
- Proficiency in CRM systems and data management for tracking leads, renewals and client retention
- Aptitude at preparing and delivering compelling presentations, proposals and contracts
- Proven ability in cross-selling and identifying opportunities to expand client engagements
- Strong client retention and renewal strategies to maintain and grow customer accounts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant commercial and research tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teams to drive client satisfaction
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic Fintech environment
- Basic negotiation and commercial skills, with a focus on deal closure and achieving targets

**Job requirements**
- A bachelor's degree in commerce (BCom), Marketing, Business Administration or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial roles, preferably in the Fintech or payments industry
- Demonstrated experience in cross-selling, client retention and managing renewals
- Familiarity with the SADC region or the African Fintech or payments sector is highly desirable
- Understanding of market dynamics, client needs and competitor offerings in the region
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple acc
