Manager: Executive Communication

Duties/Pligte **Communication strategy**:
- Planning and developing communication campaigns and copy for members of the Rectorate across a variety of channels and mediums;
- Defining communication risks, issues, challenges and opportunities in collaboration with internal partners;
- Aligning output in various formats with divisional and institutional strategic policy documents.
**Media relations**:
- Supporting the Media Office by identifying news and positioning opportunities, and developing specialist content aligned with institutional themes and objectives;
- Providing communication advisory support to the Rectorate, and acting as the official University spokesperson, when requested;
- Monitoring and analysing external media pertaining to members of the Rectorate.
**Governance and reporting**:
- Compiling quarterly Management Reports to Council and Senate for the Rector, in collaboration with the Executive Manager: Rectorate;
- Compiling content for various institutional reports on behalf of the Rectorate.
**Digital communication**:
- Developing strategic content for the University's social media channels on behalf of Rectorate members;
- Assisting with the development of content for the University's digital platforms, including the SU website, videos, mailers, and podcasts on behalf of Rectorate members, in conjunction with internal partners.
**Stakeholder engagement**:
- Formulating speeches for members of the Rectorate and preparing/coordinating accompanying content;
- Populating repositories for speeches and other written and audio-visual communication pieces in consultation with internal partners.
**Kommunikasiestrategie**:
- Beplan en ontwikkel kommunikasieveldtogte en -kopie vir lede van die Rektoraat oor 'n verskeidenheid van kanale en mediums heen;
- Definieer kommunikasierisiko's, -kwessies, -uitdagings en -geleenthede in samewerking met interne vennote;
- Belyn uitsette in verskillende formate met strategiese afdelings
- en institusionele beleidsdokumente.
**Mediabetrekkinge**:
- Ondersteun die Mediakantoor deur nuus
- en posisioneringsgeleenthede te identifiseer en spesialis-inhoud te ontwikkel wat met institusionele temas en doelwitte belyn is;
- Verskaf ondersteunende kommunikasie-advies aan die Rektoraat en tree as die Universiteit se amptelike woordvoerder op wanneer versoek word;
- Monitor en ontleed eksterne media wat op lede van die Rektoraat betrekking het.
**Bestuur en verslagdoening**:
- Samestelling van die kwartaallikse bestuursverslae aan die Raad en Senaat vir die Rektor in samewerking met die Uitvoerende Bestuurder: Rektoraat;
- Samestelling van die inhoud vir verskillende institusionele verslae namens die Rektoraat.
**Digitale kommunikasie**:
- Ontwikkel strategiese inhoud vir die Universiteit se sosiale mediakanale namens lede van die Rektoraat;
- Hulpverlening met die ontwikkeling van inhoud vir die Universiteit se digitale platforms, met inbegrip van die US-webwerf, video¿s, massa-e-posse en podsendings namens lede van die Rektoraat en in oorleg met interne vennote.
**Skakeling met belanghebbers**:
- Formuleer toesprake vir lede van die Rektoraat en voorbereiding of koördinering van gepaardgaande inhoud;
- Vul bronne vir toesprake en ander skriftelike en oudiovisuele kommunikasiestukke (geskrewe en oudiovisueel) in oorleg met interne vennote aan.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Relevant B-degree or equivalent qualification in communication, media, journalism, public relations, politics, philosophy, or education;
- A minimum of ten years' experience in a media or corporate communication environment;
- Extensive research, writing and media production experience at senior level;
- Portfolio of writing about a diverse range of topics;
- Strong, systematic organisational skills;
- Proven experience in media liaison or public relations;
- The ability to function effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment;
- The ability to work irregular hours (including weekends) and travel;
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook, and Teams;
- The ability to accurately report information as well as fine attention to detail.
- Toepaslike B-graad of gelykwaardige kwalifikasie in kommunikasie, media, joernalistiek, openbare betrekkinge, politiek, filosofie of onderrig;
- 'n Minimum van tien jaar se ervaring in 'n media
- of korporatiewe kommunikasie-omgewing;
- Omvattende navorsing-, skryf
- en mediaproduksie-ervaring op 'n senior vlak;
- Portefeulje van skryfwerk oor 'n diverse reeks onderwerpe;
- Sterk, sistematiese organisatoriese vaardighede;
- Bewese ervaring in mediaskakeling of openbare betrekkinge;
- Die vermoë om doeltreffend in 'n veeltalige en multikulturele omgewing te funksioneer;
- Die vermoë om ongereelde ure (naweke ingesluit) te werk en om te reis;
- Rekenaargeletterdheid in MS Office (Word, Excel en PowerPoint), Outlook en MS Teams;
- Die vermoë om inligting akkuraat weer te gee asook uiterste noukeurigheid.
