Duties/PligteIndependently designing, scheduling, conducting, and analysing
- _in-vivo_ preclinical experiments (murine models) of TB infection and disease, including

development and analysis of study protocols, developing appropriate endpoints and model consistency;Collaborating with scientists in the Division as appropriate to develop hypotheses, study protocols and novel experimental end points;- Developing and validating relevant
- _in-vivo_ preclinical models to evaluate TB vaccine development;- Developing host-directed therapy models;- Operational coordination of the animal BSL3 laboratory, including regulatory compliance (DALRRD, SAVC, Institutional Animal Ethics, GLP, H&S);- Leading in-vivo project teams and other collaborative interactions to ensure adherence to ethical standards, legal and animal welfare compliance (accreditation

compliance, protocol, SOPs and any other applicable standard);Building capacity development and availability of appropriate skills and competencies for staff and postgraduate students;- Ensuring the achievement of milestones and contributing to the Institute¿s research and publication output records, preparing research-related reports, and

submitting research outcomes/articles to local and international peer-reviewed journals for publication;-
- Obtaining external funds for the growth and conduction of murine TB research in the Division.

Job Requirements/Pos VereistesPhD in Veterinary Science;-
- At least two years' experience in immunology and vaccine development research;-
- At least five years' experience in animal handling and procedures;-
- At least two years' experience of working in an animal biosafety environment (A-BSL3);-
- Institutional Animal Ethics Committee experience;-
- Experience in BSL3 laboratory coordination and management;-
- A demonstrable record of research as evidenced by first authored publication(s) in peer-reviewed, top tier journals in the areas of vaccine development/veterinaryscience;Experience in implementation and management of industry or academic research projects;-
- In-depth knowledge of ethical guidelines, protocol compliance and all related national policies regarding animal welfare, care and use of animals in biomedicalresearch and animal ethics;Experience and skills in mentorship in the field of biomedical sciences involving research animal models;-
- Good Laboratory Practice experience and protocol compliance;-
- Animal biosafety environment (A-BSL3) audit experience;-
- Proven track record in obtaining international research funds.Recommendation/AanbevelingPostdoctoral experience in either academic or industry setting;- ICH GCP and SA GCP;- Operational knowledge of preclinical to clinical research landscape for vaccine, pharmaceutical and biologics development.
