**About BBI Solutions**
Our range of immuno-diagnostics reagents includes human antigens, antibodies, enzymes and serum & plasma products. With manufacturing sites spanning four continents, we produce world-renowned labels for lateral flow, ELISA assay and biosensors, including our high-quality gold nanoparticles and glucose oxidase. The acquisition of German-based DIARECT AG in June 2020 established BBI as the leading provider of antigens in the autoimmune and tick-borne IVD markets.
**Role Overview**
Responsible for Technical Leadership of the Enzymes Technical team to meet Customer and business needs, by working in partnership with cross functional teams, to support the future state design of the value stream via safe and complaint processes.
Trouble shooting critical technical issues and supporting commercial and product management teams with strategies for core and new products to ensure the overall strategy for Enzymes is met.
Managing the support scientists across the value stream and overseeing product development and process improvements with the technical support scientist.
The role will be based at the Epping, South African facility and reports directly to the Site Lead of Enzymes SA. The role will require travel to sites across the business, external conferences/exhibitions, and business meetings with customers.
**Role Requirements**
**Qualifications and experience**:
- Master’s Degree in Science
- Experience working in a biotechnology industry with enzymes or a cGMP manufacturing environment would be advantageous
- Management experience
- Practical laboratory experience.
- Experience of project management.
- Experience in the principles of Lean Manufacturing
- Autonomous working experience and ability to manage deadlines and pressure situations.
- Experience reporting into Senior Management in an effective manner.
- Experience communicating with all levels within the Company.
**Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to**:
**Objectives**:
- Responsible for Enzymes technical troubleshooting.
- Responsible for identifying and driving technical improvement opportunities across the business.
- Management of Technical projects, project development and project team(s) in performance, design, and execution work.
- Involvement in budget process for Technical.
- Provide technical support to Enzymes commercial and product management teams with strategies for core and new products to ensure that objectives of the leadership team are met.
**Role Specific**:
- Troubleshooting technical issues that impact the business.
- Responding to customers on technical issues and working in partnership with account managers as technical lead.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and responding to technical customer complaints, working with the product manager and customer services to ensure closure in a timely manner, Giving the customer constructive feedback about issues/problems encountered.
- Providing customer feedback to operational teams.
- Working with site management teams to support OTIF delivery of products.
- Working with supply chain, troubleshooting critical supply chain issues, and organising the evaluation of key raw materials.
- Advising commercial and finance on costing and pricing of value stream products.
- Support process scientists and overseeing Enzymes product development and process improvements with the technical support scientists.
- Sharing of best practice across the globe.
- Support Enzymes efficiency improvements.
- Responsible for implementing ‘Working Ways’ within your business area and introducing Service Level Agreements for Enzymes Technical Support activities to stakeholders, this includes all reports, metrics /KPI’s.
- Performs duties in accordance with the leader standard work to ensure performance of the BBI operating system.
- Responsible for completion of appropriately assigned Continuous Improvement initiatives, including updating of controlling systems (CIPs) and communication to stakeholders.
- Key Performance Indicators:
- Goals and Objectives by RAG ensuring alignment to Goal Tree/Strategy
- Create baseline on project quality metrics for NC/CC/Customer Complaints and then measure improvement for the baseline
- Evaluation of individual and project team results, data reduction and interpretation throughout development.
- Management of Technical projects, project development and project team(s) in performance, design, and execution work.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all experimental work performed and batches of material produced and tested.Preparing and reviewing data and company documentation as required.
