The Porter at The Silo Hotel needs to demonstrate the highest level of courteous and efficient service, to ensure guests feel welcome and that their requests, luggage and vehicles will be taken care of at all times. They need to have knowledge of the Royal Portfolio properties and standards and need to ensure that they adhere to the Royal Portfolio’s Purpose _“To give guests a complete experience and a perfect stay”_.

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

- To embody and live The Royal Portfolio’s Purpose & Values and to instill this within the culture of The Silo;
- Provide guests with directions to nearby restaurants and attractions;
- To be present at the Lobby and P3 Vault entrances; ready to assist guests and colleagues when requested;
- Stay current and up to date with all hotel services as well as daily VIP requests and special events;
- Welcoming all Guest upon arrival from Ground level and seeing guests to their vehicles upon departure;
- Ensure the collection and delivery of guest luggage and equipment occurs in an efficient and timely manner;
- Delivers items to guests’ rooms when requested;
- To provide an efficient luggage storage, delivery and collection service;
- Dealing with Guest queries and arranging assistance when necessary;
- Must be able to build relationships and interact with all Guests;
- Stay up to date with knowledge of Cape Town and surrounding areas;
- Ability to work accurately under pressure;
- Responsible for the tidiness of the porters’ storeroom;
- Perform any other ad hoc works as and when assigned by the management.

**REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS**
- 2-3 years’ experience in a 5* environment
- Driver’s License
- Strong organization skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- A willingness and passion to serve
- Presentable and well groomed
- Very strong verbal communication, reading and writing skills in English are essential; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to work long hours, day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Excellent knowledge of The Silo Hotel, the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town and surrounding areas

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.

**All new appointments at The Royal Portfolio’s properties will need to show proof of vaccination against Covid19.
