Concierge The Silo Hotel

The Silo Hotel's Concierge demonstrates the highest level of courteous and efficient service, to ensure guests feel welcome and that their needs will be attended to at all times during their stay. They form strong and lasting relationships with guests and provide information about additional hotel services. The Assistant Concierge is responsible for building suitable itineraries and day plans for guests and for navigating guests through their entire stay in the most seamless and memorable way. They need to have knowledge of The Royal Portfolio properties and standards and need to ensure that they adhere to the Royal Portfolio’s purpose which is _“To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay”_.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide guests with information about attractions, facilities, services, and activities around Cape Town and arrange events, excursions, transportation etc. upon request from our guests.
- Stay current and up to date with all hotel services as well as daily VIP requests and special events.
- Assist with brochure and map management.
- Creating and issuing the weekly events calendar.
- Welcoming all Guests upon arrival; Engaging with them throughout their stay.
- Operate a system called Dineplan to make and update all outlets dining reservations. To capture guest details correctly and ensure confirmations are sent.
- Conduct weekly training sessions with team on new developments / refresher training on TRP.
- Attend functions and events to represent the Silo Hotel concierge team as arranged through the Hotel
- Assist with updating of Standard Operating Procedures for Front Office team.
- Having a close working relationship and overseeing the daily duties of the Hotel chauffeurs.
- To ensure that all standards and procedures are fully known and followed.
- Ensure thorough communications between sub departments in Front Office.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Ability to take initiative and make judgement calls regarding complaints.
- Assist the Front Desk and cover the Lobby where and when necessary.
- Assist with ad hoc duties as requested by colleagues and Management if within reason and person’s capabilities.
- To embody and live The Royal Portfolio’s Purpose & Values and to instil this within the culture of The Silo Hotel.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
- Diploma in Hospitality Management will be given preference
- 2 years’ experience in a Guest Relations or Concierge role in a 5* Environment
- A strong grasp of operational systems (Micros POS and Opera) and computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- A willingness and passion to serve
- Presentable and well groomed
- Top knowledge of The Silo Hotel, our guests and of Cape Town and the surrounding areas
- Ability to work long hours, day and night, including weekends and holidays
- Very strong communication skills in English with an additional European language a distinct advantage
- Exceptional attention to detail, hardworking and a passion for people and hospitality
- A passion to learn, teach and drive improvement in employees
- International experience in a similar environment and travelling experience will be advantageous
- Own transport a plus
South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
