- TRANSPORTATION ACTIVITIES- Ensure vehicles are available and correctly allocated to drivers.
- Assist in daily logistics department planning.
- Ensure correct signage as required for dangerous goods transportation is made available and displayed on trucks.
- Assist the logistics manager by liaising with production and distribution managers to determine transportation priorities and requirements.
- Assist in liaising with sales personnel if scheduled deliveries to customers cannot be fulfilled.
- Conduct spot checks on vehicle cleanliness and correct PPE worn by drivers at all times. Escalate any issues to the logistics manager.
- Escalate any breakdowns to the logistics manager as and when it happens.
- Ensure daily vehicle checklists are submitted by drivers and cross check information recorded.
- Liaise with the logistics manager, or in his absence the Workshop manager regarding vehicle breakdowns when required.
- Perform other tasks within reason as assigned by the logistics manager.
- Assist the Logistics manager in implementing the Quality management system.
- SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL- In the absence of the logistics manager assist by ensuring safe work procedures are adhered to.
- Report any unsafe conditions or environmental pollution in accordance with SHE procedures to the logistics manager
- Ensure loads are secure and report any problems to the logistics manager.
- Ensure vehicles are carrying the correct hazchem notices and tremcards for the type of goods being transported.
- Ensure personal protective equipment issued is worn when required and report damaged or loss equipment to the logistics manager.
- Ensure road traffic regulations are adhered to at all times.
- Assist the logistics manager to manage employee time and attendance on a daily basis.
- Ensure daily checking of Ctrack system for driver deviations.
- BBS - Behaviour Based Safety - In the absence of the Logistics manager assist by:

- Conducting daily driver coaching as per Drive Cam report.
- Analyse weekly and monthly Drive Cam reports and implement procedure to reduce non-conformance
- Assist the logistics manager in issuing of disciplinary warning for non-conformance of company policy and procedures.
- Conduct disciplinary hearing when assigned to you by the Logistics manager.
- ASSIST THE LOGISTICS MANAGER TO MAINTAIN SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT- Ensure requirements of the SHE system are implemented and adhered to.
- Report and investigate all incidents that involve any personnel and vehicles under your control.
- Ensure all vehicles carry the required safety and emergency equipment and that drivers are conversant in the use of this equipment.**Inherent Requirements**
- Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification

**Desired Qualification**:

- Certificate/Diploma: Transport or Logistics & Supply Chain Management

**Minimum Work Experience Required**:

- At least 3-years experience in transportation and or distribution environment that includes fleet controlling.
