**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**Job Title**:Risk Assurance - Senior Manager

**Employment Type**:Contract

**Work Location**: Johannesburg

**OVERALL JOB PURPOSE**:
To drive and execute on the agreed Transactional Banking Combined Assurance coverage plan. Assist in the improvement of the control environment in line with the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Policy, Assurance Standard and Critical Process Assessment (CPA) Standard.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**1.**
**Planning Assurance Reviews**:

- Develop the Assurance Plan through consultation with the respective Transactional Banking management team and various assurance providers across the three lines of defence.
- Plan the delivery of assigned assurances to a high quality and in line with Assurance Standard.
- Prepare announcement and scoping memos with key deliverables in terms of assurance timelines.
- Conduct walkthroughs to understand the area under review and risks inherent in the processes.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the business and use this knowledge to identify and assess risks and controls.
- Design and ensure the execution of approved sampling techniques, testing strategies on assurance reviews.

**2.**
**Executing Assurance Reviews**:

- Prepare detailed working papers for all assurance reviews to ensure a consistent testing approach in line with the Assurance Standard.
- Conduct assurance reviews, investigations, and/or ad hoc projects with mínimal supervision and direction.
- Execute and manage the Design Effectiveness Testing (DEA) and Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET) in line with the Assurance Standard requirements.
- Review working papers and supporting evidence prepared by assurance team on a review.
- Perform and proactively participate in the timely clearing of review notes raised by the Head Risk Governance and Control to ensure overall high quality working papers.

**Reporting**:

- Anticipate potential barriers, issues, and management concerns and create action plans and recommendations to address these concerns in a timeous manner.
- Draft high-quality reports with observations which are insightful, addressing the root cause, have agreed actions that mitigate the risk and facilitate the remediation of issues until closure.
- Capture the findings on Operational Risk Management System (ORMS) in a timely manner.

**4.**
**Stakeholder Engagement**:

- Present effectively at stakeholder meetings and forums (e.g.: combined assurance forums, risk forums, etc.) by sharing knowledge, changes, and new developments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with accountable stakeholder management on each assurance review.

**5.**
**People Management**:

- Mentor and coach less experienced team members on assigned assurance reviews by providing guidance around the assurance process.
- Manage the teams that are assigned to the assurance review effectively by delegating assurance work to empower each individual team member.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- B-degree in Business/Commerce/Management.
- 5 years experience in assurance, risk management or auditing.
