- Reporting to the Project Manager Maintenance- Purpose of Position:
- Ensure performance from plant equipment (refer to list below) in order to achieve 90 % plant availability;- Planned maintenance: Plan and perform preventative maintenance of existing plants and equipment;- Un-planned maintenance: Ensure equipment breakdowns are managed through responses by Team Leaders and artisans;- Implementation of instructions given by Process Development Manager.- Diagnose, repair and/or upgrade plant equipment to be within their specifications;- Design and implementation of preventative maintenance plan to reduce job card requests- Downtime analysis: Daily reporting to company management, tracking of downtime 5 largest causes, updated monthly to show progress;- Provide instruction and guidance on all technical aspects of plant and equipment;- Quality control of work performed by maintenance department and contractors;- Project work: Implement new projects on plant in conjunction with engineering team;- Manage artisans and assistants in order to maintain equipment and achieve uptime target and responses to call outs;- In conjunction with Responsible Engineer: Ensure that mechanical and electrical machinery installations and operations are compliant to relevant legislation- Duties/Reponsibilities:
- GENERAL:
- Attend weekly plant operation meetings;- Participate in process design reviews, e.g. HAZOP;- Participate in risk assessments;- Review operating procedures and assist with compilation of new procedures as required;- Issue Permit to Work, as competent person/area manager accordingly;- Perform Isolation and Lockout Procedure, as competent person;- Daily clocking in/out of work;- Responsible for completing and submitting overtime authorization forms on or before the 15th of every month;- Work towards Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as set and agreed to by Manager;- Attend morning meetings with Department;- Record keeping: ensure plant operational data, maintenance records (job cards, certificates) are logged on company software system;- Acceptance of legal appointments related to maintenance activities (providing adequately trained), including but not limited to:
- Responsible engineer (GMR 2.1 appointee), Machinery Inspector (GMR 2.7(a) appointee), Ladder Inspector, Scaffolding Inspector- PLANT:
- Implement a planned maintenance schedule for each plant section;- Ensure Team Leaders assign work to artisans and assistants in order to implement maintenance schedule;- Ensure Team Leaders and artisans complete job cards to high quality standard;- Review and critically assess job cards for continuous improvement, using analytics from software system;- Schedule maintenance work with Operations (production) Department;- Adhere to company procedures (notably Permit to Work, Lock Out, Job Card system);- Communicate effectively with Manager regarding job progress;- Perform tasks safely and efficiently;- Record keeping of equipment services, equipment testing and checklists through Job Cards (internal and external), reports and completion of equipment datasheet records, and storing on software system;- Ensure plant inspection checksheets are completed by Team Leaders/artisans as instructed by Project Manager or Responsible Engineer- Crosschecking of all checklists;- Critical spares and store inventory: report timeously to Stock Controller for ordering spares;- Specify equipment as required/recommended (with approval from Engineer);- Ensure that Team Leaders/artisans are reporting used of spares and consumables to Stock Controller for replacement.- Quality control: ensure quality of work performed by maintenance department personnel and contractors is to required level- Machine efficiency: ensure operation and maintenance of plant machinery is optimized for best production. Conduct studies, research, engage with consultants and other stakeholders as methods to achieve best production.- Plant sections: a. Company plants: i. Line 1 ii. Line 2 iii. Line 3 iv. Recycling Plant v. Heavy Metal Plant b. Recovery plant i. Water network (settling and filtration) ii. Solids recovery (ball mill, residue handling machinery) c. Preparation plant i. Neutralisation ii. Shredders iii. Other preparation machinery d. Autoclave plant, including boiler- HEALTH AND SAFETY:
- Maintain a safe working environment for all plant and maintenance staff;- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all staff;- Maintain and improve housekeeping in all maintenance areas;- Attend Health and Safety Committee Meetings.- Report all incidents/accident to the SHEQ Department and complete the required documentation on the SHEQ Management System- MACHINERY:
