- The Technical Director is responsible for the development of technical capabilities of an engineering discipline by implementing the business plans in particular of raising the technical capabilities of local staff as well as sharing knowledge across the business. Serves as lead engineer on mid-to-large size projects, providing specialized technical input to studies and design for specific area of expertise. Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others and supports the development of technical proposals. Presents complex technical solutions to clients. Able to proactively identify opportunities to support the discipline area's overall growth and the Civil Infrastructure Business Line. Is considered an expert in their field of engineering.

**KEY PERFORMANCE DUTIES**:
Technical Delivery Management:

- Provides technical leadership for a specialty area and is considered to be an expert in their field.
- Responsible for technically leading aspects of projects, supporting Project Managers and technical teams to deliver within scope, budget, timeframe, and high-quality standards.
- Engages with project technical teams within a field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables.
- Delivers effective communication inclusive of clients and team members to clarify expectations and requirements.
- Shares knowledge with GDC and other areas to develop technical skills.
- Technically coordinates with Authorities for approvals of schemes.
- Participates in recruitment, technical interviews, and evaluations of prospective employees.
- May be required to make day-to-day decisions for a technical team.
- Mentors technical leadership talent and trains staff, ensuring discipline skills are up to date and industry-relevant.

Technical Excellence:

- Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represents the Organisation in conferences.
- Identifies and delivers new technical offerings.
- Develops and approves the methodology for new work areas
- approves new tools/techniques that add value.
- Resolves complex technical problems and acts as the go-to person for specific technical issues.
- Acts independently on technical matters and demonstrates innovation to deliver technical excellence.
- Performs technical quality reviews and serves as Lead Verifier on projects confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations.
- Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve technical challenges and provide coaching to peers and team members.
- Supports digital transformation strategy and implementation and embraces change within the discipline.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with the local authority technical departments.
- Creates and manages the intellectual property-updates and maintains the design libraries.
- Responsible for developing a robust technical network within the company globally to provide clients with the most appropriate technical solutions and is part of the global technical practice teams.

Client Relationship Management:

- Participates in preparing major bids and proposals on the technical side whilst supporting business development initiatives through their technical expertise.
- Maintains regular contact with the client to identify pre-released opportunities.
- Has the knowledge and expertise required for this work level, which usually results from progressive experience in a specific discipline.
- Markets COMPANY’s technical excellence in the relevant industry by attending conferences and publishing technical papers.
- Presents to clients, senior leadership and other project stakeholders to demonstrate progress and clearly explain design principles.

Interdisciplinary Coordination:

- Ensures assigned teams effectively coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no design gaps providing fully coordinated design deliverables.
- This includes the support of the construction supervision teams.

Professionally registered as an Engineer with ECSA or related professional body

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University/Master of Science / Engineering.
- 15+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification of which 5+ years should be in a technical supervisory role.
