Africa’s leading specialist in the manufacturing of premium knitted and woven mattress fabric based in Elsies River industrial is seeking to fill the role of General Worker.

**Job Summary**

Setting up and operating an extrusion machine in accordance with the established procedures and guidelines as well as customer requirements. The operator will adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely manner.

**Job Requirements**
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantage people.
- Physically fit and healthy.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
- +/- 2 years machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical and/or lean manufacturing qualification is advantageous.

**Duties and Responsibilities**, include but are not limited to the following:

- Efficient operation of machines.
- Ensuring that the quality of the produced yarn is of the highest standard and according to specifications.
- Loading stickers and black ribbon into the printer.
- Conducting the process of preparing spin finish.
- Reporting and recording all issues in the handover logbook and to the supervisors on shift.
- Ensuring that shift handovers are done to discuss issues from the previous shift.
- Completing all production sheets and documentation.
- Following the procedure in the safe use of the Ultra Sonic Machine.
- Following the procedure to remove and insert packs.
- Operating the Granulater/chipper and Mixing machine.
- Calculating the amounts of nodes needed per meter of produced yarn.
- Completing all relevant information on the continuity card.
- Following the steps on start-up and shut down procedure.
- Inspecting the manufactured product for any physical defects.
- Checking for defects and take the necessary action to correct them.
- o Performing general housekeeping.
- o Compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Assisting the Extruder Operator where possible and with other related tasks of the department.

**Behavioural Aspects Required**
- The ability to handle work pressure, working in an 8hour/12hour shift environment.
- Must have a positive attitude and the ability to meet departmental targets and/or KPIs.
- Good planning, organisational, analytical, decision-making skills and problem solving on production machines.
- The ability to work with other departments.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: R41.38 per hour

- Technical: 2 years (required)
