**A. **Job Title**:
**Truck Driver **reporting to the **Dispatch Manager**

**B. **Job Overview**

Truck Driver responsibilities include truck and trip management.

**C. **Areas of Responsibility (**Your duties will include but are not limited to)**

**1 Pre-trip Checks**
- Conduct checks as per pre-trip check list
- Check that vehicle is road worthy and fuel level is adequate
- Fridge unit temperature needs to comply with laid down parameters (-20ºC to -10ºC)

**2 Trip Arrangements**
- Obtain delivery routing sheet at pre-departing session
- Ensure Jumpers meet required operating condition with knowledge of task ahead
- Ensure “Money Safe” facilities on board are in good condition
- Familiarise yourself with prescribed route to ensure no deviation occurs without required consent
- No unauthorised stops are allowed, and the alarm should be raised with the control centre should you encounter and unsafe or suspicious circumstances
- Truck is not be left unattended without consent from Site Controller
- No unauthorised lifts
- You are in full charge of the delivery process and need to comply with all relevant Emergency Procedures

**3 Re-fuelling**
- The allocated petrol card and logbook are to be kept in the vehicle at all times
- The vehicle may only be re-fuelled at a Caltex Star Mark filling station
- The logbook should be completed, and the payment slip secured as per requirements
- Logbook to be checked by Night Shift Manager and slips handed in

**4 Breakdowns, Flat Wheels and Vehicle Overheating**
- Stop the vehicle in a safe position along the roadside with all required danger signs should a breakdown occur
- Contact the Fleet / Maintenance Manager or Control centre when a breakdown occurs, or the vehicle displays signs of poor performance
- Note accurate location
- The vehicle and load remain your responsibility until handed over to responsible person
- Follow protocol for the exchange of a flat tyre as trained
- Follow prescribed actions should the heat gauge move into the danger red zone and / or the heat sensor alarm sound.

**5 Refrigeration Unit**
- Regularly check the refrigeration monitoring system whilst in transit and report any fluctuations outside the critical temperature range immediately (-20ºC to -10ºC for frozen products and -1ºC to +5ºC for chilled products)

**6 Teamwork**
- Support department managers and co employees.
- Actively participate as a member of the team
- Performing any other task, not specified herein, which from time to time may be assigned by the manager.

**7 Housekeeping and Safety Standards**
- Ensures that cleaning and housekeeping standards on equipment and work areas are maintained according to laid down standards and norms
- Ensure Personal hygiene standards are maintained
- Take reasonable care for own health and safety as well as the health and safety of others
- Wear the correct PPE in accordance with the company policy and procedures
- No interference or abuse of any health, safety and environmental welfare equipment
- Keep work areas clean and free from hazards and risks

**D. **Knowledge, skills, and experience required**
**Educational Background**:

- Grade 12
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand Afrikaans & English

**Knowledge/Skills**:

- Code 14 (EC) Licence with 2 Years’ Experience
- Must have experience driving links
- Operational Agility
- Ensure Vision, Mission and Values underpin all activities

**Salary**: R6,502.75 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Edenvale, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

License/Certification:

- Code 14 drivers licence (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 75% (required)
