Environmental Education Officer
**Requirements**:

- 3 years’ tertiary qualifications in People and Conservation and/or

Nature Conservation or a minimum of five years’ equivalent working
experience within People and Conservation
- 1 to 3 years’ relevant experience in the fields of People and

Conservation, Stakeholder Engagement, Community Conservation
and/or Environmental Education
- Exposure to social, ecological and educational issues pertaining to

protected areas in Urban environments including basic
understanding of the social and political environment seen as
advantageous
- Experience in conflict resolution with various stakeholders and

partners
- Bilingual in two of three official languages of the Western Cape

(Afrikaans/ English/ IsiXhosa)
- Valid code B driver’s licence
- A valid code 10 (C 1) and a professional driving permit (PrDP) will

serve as an added advantage
- Computer literate (MS Office, Microsoft Outlook)
- Must be physically fit (walk 3.6 km carrying an 11 kg pack within 34

minutes)
- Experience of Nature Reserve management activities would be an

added advantage
Key Performance Areas
- Engage with Nature Reserve-specific stakeholders, undertaking

outreach and promoting the Nature Reserve and the principles of
biodiversity conservation
- Proactive community liaison, engagement, and relationship

management
- Develop and implement site-specific programmes relating to

community, partnerships and stakeholder (internal and external)
engagement
- Administer bookings and enquiries related to environmental

education and public liaison
- Collate, manage and report on visitor user groups and other client

statistics
- Input into and manage aspects of the visitor facilities
