Job Description: Senior Stock Controller

Job Summary:
180 Degrees Foods (Pty) Ltd, (Known as 180 Degrees Catering and Confectionery) is a leading catering and confectionery business committed to delivering high-quality, ready-to-eat meals, platters, specialty cakes, pastries, and impulse items.

This role is integral to our **Food Safety Management System (FSMS)** and supports overall operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Stock Control and Inventory Management**:

- Oversee all stock movements, including receiving, storage, issuing, and stock rotation for raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and cleaning chemicals.
- Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels based on production forecasts and actual usage.
- Implement and enforce FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) systems to prevent expiry and ensure traceability.
- Track and manage stock movement, including receiving, issuing, and dispatching items.
- Minimize stock loss through effective waste management and expiry tracking.
- Lead weekly, monthly stock takes and investigate discrepancies.
- Record all stock data accurately in inventory management systems (manual or digital).

**2. Food Safety Compliance**:

- Ensure all stock handling and storage practices comply with R638, GFSI, SANS 10040:2019, HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and other relevant legislations.
- Regularly inspect storage areas, including temperature-controlled units (freezers, cold rooms, and chillers), for compliance with food safety guidelines.
- Monitor and document temperature records and storage conditions for traceability.
- Be an active member of the **FSMS team**, supporting the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of food safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for traceability and product recall readiness.
- Support internal audits, traceability exercises, and corrective actions related to stock issues.

**3. Operational Coordination**:

- Work closely with procurement, production, and dispatch teams to align stock availability with operational needs.
- Manage and resolve discrepancies in deliveries, including damaged or incorrect stock.
- Oversee the documentation of waste, expired stock, and non-conformances.

**4. Reporting and Documentation**:

- Prepare detailed stock and inventory reports for management review.
- Maintain comprehensive records of batch numbers, expiry dates, and supplier information for all stock items.
- Assist in audits and inspections related to stock and food safety compliance.

**5. Team Leadership, Management & Coordination and Training**:

- Supervise and guide junior stock control staff.
- Train relevant staff in proper stock handling procedures and food safety practices.
- Collaborate with the production, quality assurance, and procurement to align stock levels with operational needs.
- Promote a culture of accountability and excellence in stock management.

**6.** **Other Duties**:

- Preparing and maintaining reports on stock levels, purchases, and pricing.
- Analyzing data to identify trends and potential problems.
- Conducting stock audits and resolving discrepancies.
- Implementing and improving stock control processes and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Participating in inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Ensuring all storage areas are kept clean and tidy, coordinating with the Housekeeping.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Essential Requirements**:
**Education**:
A diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, or a related field is preferred.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 3 - 5 years in a stock control role within a food production, catering, or confectionery environment.
