Business Intelligence: Data Architect

Business Intelligence Data Architect will be responsible for aligning the BI architecture with the business strategy by analyzing, defining and designing the data architecture required to achieve the university’s information needs.

**Duties and Responsibilities** (include but is not limited to):

- Provide the overall cohesiveness to ensure that all the components of the proposed BI solution will fit together
- Work with university and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into business intelligence data designs
- Guide data design and development across systems for BI reporting, data integration, analytics and data warehousing initiatives
- Guide activities related to BI data governance and BI data management
- Create and support a robust, flexible and sustainable BI data architecture
- Conduct discovery, perform root cause analysis and make recommendations for the remediation of data quality issues
- Design and recommend data policies, governance structures and control frameworks for the ongoing management of data
- Design and implement effective practices for the business intelligence team, including SDLC, data integration, change control
- Work with other BI teams and Enterprise Architect to share and promote best practices, unify technology stack, promote standard data definitions and consistent metrics
- Collaborate with others and remain abreast with new technologies within BI

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements **(Qualification and Experience)
- Honours degree in BSc Computer Science, information systems or software engineering
- 5+ yrs. working experience as a Business Intelligence Data Architect or Solution Architect.
- 5+ yrs. Experience with all aspects of BI projects from business analysis, architectures, system analysis and design through development, testing, implementation, and production support (SDLC).
- Experience in data modelling and ability to understand data lineage, data dependencies
- Experience using BI solutions, decision support systems and visualization (Microsoft, SQL,Tableau etc.)

**Required competencies **(skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):

- Knowledge of BI or IT software frameworks and methodologies (Agile, TOGAF, Kimball etc.)
- Strong analytical and conceptual design skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Ability and comfort working independently
- Excellent written/verbal communication (English)
