Duties/Pligte
Reporting to the Executive Head: Department of Biomedical Sciences, the incumbent's duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Being responsible for the formulation and achievement of strategic goals, which include strategic planning and leadership of the Division with respect to its academic
offerings, research activities and social impact;
- Promoting student and faculty engagement and fostering an inclusive culture of learning, research and social impact;
- Developing, coordinating, evaluating and participating in undergraduate and postgraduate training programme short courses and research activities;
- Further innovation in learning and teaching (inclusive of simulation and technology), scholarship, continuous development and transformative learning;
- Increasing the quality and output of research in performing and supervising research in priority areas, as well as expanding and strengthening national and international
collaboration through innovative networking;
- Managing allocated finances, human resources and physical infrastructure, in accordance with the policies as established by the Departmental Management Committee
- Managing the SU body donation programme;
- Representing the Division on departmental structures, or where delegated for this purpose, on FMHS committees/structures through active participation in activities related
to managerial and administrative matters by making contributions at all levels (departmental, faculty, University) to committees as well as at international level, where
appropriate;
- Expanding and strengthening collaboration with health services, communities and other stakeholders, locally and internationally.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A Doctorate relevant to the field of Clinical Anatomy;
- Proven expertise and experience at senior lecturer level in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and supervision in a relevant field;learning for under
- and postgraduate students;
- Proven management, networking and leadership experience in academic or related environments;
- Proven national standing and international recognition as academic and expert in the field of clinical anatomy through active participation in conferences;
- A track record of proven independent research with publications and related research outputs commensurate with the expected outputs of a professor/associate professor;
- In-depth knowledge and insight into the laws governing body donation in South Africa.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Experience in blended learning methods and online teaching;
- Experience in teaching anatomy to small and large groups of students;
- Successful PhD supervision;
- Success in securing grants.
