**Main purpose of position**

Currently we are looking for a **Civil Engineering Draughtsman **in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision - **Improving our future.** As our Engineering Draughtsman you will manage and coordinate the civil engineering drawing office to support projects throughout the various stages of development, execution and operations. Draught conceptual layouts and relevant drawings for all projects during development and structuring phase.

**Main responsibilities**
- Support to Development Phase: Compile preliminary drawings like slope analysis and elevation analysis to facilitate technology selections for PV, Wind and Hydropower Projects.
- Calculate preliminary bulk earthworks with available topography data with AutoCad Civil 3D or similar softwares
- Extract quantities to populate bills of quantities from preliminary drawings and run GIS software (or equivalent) for early project conceptualisation
- Obtain online geological, precipitation, snow maps and overlay with proposed development sites
- Support to Structuring Phase of projects: Deliver drawings required to complete the overall civil design and conceptualisation (typically from development phase of the project)
- Implement and maintain an effective methodology to control drawing updates, revisions, changes
- Formulate and implement drawing standards and deliver additional drawings as requested on an ad hoc basis
- Create and manage civil engineering drawing templates and typical drawings catalogues
- Follow the guidelines and prescribed structures as outlined by the operating system
- Provide continuous input towards improvement and optimisation of the operating system
- Assist with any modeling during the execution phase, resolve and update as-built drawings to reflect changes and deviations identified during operations

**Qualifications and competencies**
- Diploma in Multi-disciplinary Draughting
- 4+ years civil draughting experience
- 1+ year’ experience draughting office management or leading drawing design tasks
- Experience in Renewable energy, ideally Wind, PV & Hydro Power
- Urban development planning and design, civil works draughting and geometric design
- Bulk earthworks and drainage modelling experience
- Sound knowledge of AutoCAD civil 3D (or similar numerical modelling software) and GIS software
- Previous experience in HEC-RAS/SWMM modelling
- Structural and FEM modelling/dynamics analyses simulation software packages advantageous
- Sound knowledge of Rubicon software and Plaxis/Rocscience/Itasca/Prokon (or equivalent numerical and stress deformation analysis)
- Must have a basic understanding of renewable energy technologies; energy storage solutions; market trends and business models
- Sound knowledge of the key design requirements and considerations for PV/Wind/BESS/Hydro.
- Ability to prepare reports in line with relevant quality requirements and communicate/ present findings in a good way, adapted to the audience of the report/presentation.
