Africa’s leading specialist in the manufacturing of premium knitted and woven mattress fabric based in Elsies River industrial is seeking to fill the role of Production Technician.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- +3 years’ mechanical and maintenance experience.
- Previous experience working with machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn from a machine instruction manuals.
- Availability to work shifts.

**Duties and Responsibilities**, include but are not limited to the following:

- Inspect, maintain and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they’re always in proper working order.
- Observe the operation of manufacturing machinery, paying attention to small details and symptoms to identify issues that need correcting, either in operator error or mechanical malfunction
- Test machines to confirm the presence or absence of issues, making recommendations for continued operation based on the results
- Operate repaired machine to confirm it is fully functional
- Evaluate the efficiency of each machine, making recommendations for practices or upgrades to improve output rates without compromising operator safety.
- Care for machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts and lubricating moving components as needed to ensure proper, efficient function.
- Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects and damage.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on machines.
- Record all maintenance and repair services performed, and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.
- Request orders to be placed to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted.
- Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly-acquired machinery.

- Effective communication skills.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills to assess issues with the equipment and efficiently identify problems and their resolutions.
