Aon South Africa is recruiting a Broking Manager - Specialty in our Broking department, based on a hybrid basis at our head offices in Sandton. The Broking Manager is responsible for driving the Aon South Africa broking strategy in their particular area of responsibility. The incumbent develops a team of broking staff (responsible for a particular area of specialisation). The Broking Manager and their team are responsible for providing client facing staff (e.g. account executives) with technical advice relating to their client’s insurance portfolios, in terms of, amongst others, placement design, available coverage and capacity, pricing, potential coverage improvements and terms and conditions. The Broking Manager will invariably be a top-tier general insurance professional with the ability to advise and lead all internal and external partners, including subordinates, colleagues and clients with technical broking advice in their particular area of specialization.

**What the day will look like**:
- Responsible for driving the broker strategy of Aon South Africa, particularly in the specialty areas of Marine and Aviation.
- Responsible for leading and managing the broking team in the business unit.
- Acts as the primary point of contact within the broking team for specific clients in order to provide specialist advice to the clients and colleagues (country-wide).
- Responsible for managing sophisticated deals and relationships, providing technical advice to colleagues and clients on placement design, available coverage and capacity, pricing, potential coverage improvements and risk placement negotiation.
- Works in partnership with clients (where applicable) and colleagues to ensure clients’ needs and expectations are met.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining industry and market and product intelligence amongst competitors, underwriters, general insurance placement companies.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining productive internal and external partner relationships with colleagues, subordinates, clients and placement partners.
- Identifies and uses all cross marketing and cross selling opportunities in respect of services and products in the Aon value chain.
- Ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements

**Skills and experience that will lead to success**:
**Qualifications.**
- A matric qualification.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree from a reputable tertiary educational institution.
- Insurance related tertiary qualification.
- Registration as a representative with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS act.
- Registration as an associate with the Insurance Institute of South Africa.
**Knowledge.**
- A good understanding of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to the industry.
- A good understanding of risk analysis methodologies pertaining to the industry.
- A well-developed understanding of and ability to deliver risk management and insurance solutions to business enterprises in South Africa.
**Skills and Attributes.**
- Well-developed analytical skills, i.e. problem-solving, potential problem analysis, decision analysis.
- Well-developed leadership and team management skills.
- Well-developed spoken and written communication skills.
- Well-developed negotiating skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with pressure and high stress environment.
**Experience.**
- 10 to 15 years of proven experience within the insurance industry.
- At least 4 to 6 years of broker management experience.
- A record of accomplishment in terms of providing risk management and insurance solutions to commerce and industry.
