Construction Manager, Turnkey Structural Steel

Reporting directly to the MD and Head of Operations, we are looking for a Construction Manager with a minimum of 15 years working experience in Structural, Mechanical & Piping installation environment, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience leading a site team in a mid-size business.

Technical abilities required: Ability to read drawings; ability understand and implement technical specifications; excellent understanding of site processes; excellent understanding of key measurement and metrics which drive On Time, In Full, Always Safely; ability to analyse production and make improvements; computer literacy in Microsoft Office and STRUMIS.

Construction Manager contributes to the purpose of the business by:

- Planning, controlling, and managing of site construction:

- the Staff
- Processes and Systems related to site construction.
- Coordinating:

- All above, to integrate seamlessly to achieve contract requirements and keep company customer promises

Site Planning & Management
- Ensure all installation is well planned & communicated, running effectively and efficiently
- Communicate weekly planning with Workshop departments
- Weekly production schedule to include
- prioritization of activities
- allocation of resources
- completion dates
- Weekly reconciliation of planned vs completed activities
- Meet PM’s project commitment dates by meeting site installation
- Achieving weekly, monthly and annual production targets
- Assessment of workload & capacity of teams, prioritizing, making sure that
- Our teams are at full capacity
- commitment dates are being met.
- Provide site-related technical advice and input into Projects.

Labour & Equipment Budgets
- Control of site labour & equipment budgets
- Improvement on daily, weekly & monthly budgets
- Total labour budget
- Labour Overtime budgets
- Equipment budgets
- (Proportional to budgeted tonnages)
- Labour & Equipment efficiency ratios
- From time to time, assist tendering department with realistic labour costing & timing

SHEQ Management
- Perform duties as per 16.2 Appointment.
- Site specific Safety Targets
- Monitor and analyze LTI’s and systems to ensure that targets set are effectively achieved
- Implementation of company Health and Safety System or Client specific Health & Safety System, including training, maintenance, system compliance and checklists, learning and improvements from incidents
- Ensure all appointed personnel understand their liabilities & responsibilities
- Ensure all appointed personnel are competent and able to fulfil their obligations in terms of their appointment.
- Overseeing and supporting Safety Officer in meeting targets

STRUMIS Implementation
- Drive the implementation to STRUMIS in all aspects of Site works.
- Use STRUMIS for doc control & material control.
- Driving the implementation of STRUMIS

Continuous Improvement (CI)
- Investigate site related problems and analyse the root causes.
- Implement and monitor enduring solutions to solve problems
- Lead continuous improvement efforts
- Lead implementation of industry best practices

Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all site-specific specifications are implemented and adhered to
- In conjunction with Quality Manager ensure annual recertification to ISO 9001:2015
- In conjunction with Quality Manager ensure production team is working to ISO 9001:2015 procedures
- In conjunction with Quality Manager monitor workshop errors

Maintenance and control of Equipment
- Ensure the servicing and maintenance of all site related equipment.
- Ensure maintenance is conducted, when planned and within budgets
- Complete annual equipment stock take ensuring asset register and safety equipment registers are up to date and correct by 28th February annually

Finances
- In conjunction with Head of Operations & Managing Director, responsible for setting Construction budgets aligned to Sales targets
- Taking appropriate action from the review of monthly Management Accounts
- Site works related to budget.
- Ensuring site systems are in place to control all extras and reworks
