**Job Purpose**: The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to conduct assessments and investigations into allegations of fraud, theft, corruption and maladministration reported to the department. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.
**Minimum Requirements**: A recognised 4-year legal qualification or LLB; A minimum of 8 years experience in providing legal support; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
**Recommendation**: Admitted as an attorney or advocate of the High Court, who has duly completed the Law Society of South Africa board examinations or national bar examinations; Experience in local government law, criminal law and administrative law; Certified Fraud Examiner designation or similar investigative experience into municipalities.
**Key Performance Areas**: Case/Project planning and conducting investigations; Case closure and finalisation; Reporting on fraud, theft, corruption risks and control issues; Liaise with stakeholders and proactive investigations; Performance and information management and reporting; Manage the operation of the sub-directorate.
**Competencies**: Knowledge of the following: Applicable policies, acts, prescripts, legislation and procedures; Legislation pertaining to forensic investigations; Interpretation of legislation; Skills needed: Written and verbal communication; Interpersonal; Analytical thinking; Analysing and fact finding; Proven computer literacy; Project management; Ability to take statements during investigations; Ability to compile accurate and complete forensic reports based on facts determined during investigation; Display professional and ethical conduct in a diverse working environment.
**Remuneration**: All-inclusive salary package of R 811 560 per annum (Salary Level 11) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
