The Associate Lecturer position will provide blended learning with face-to-face clinical teaching, online training and learning within the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care for the Division of Clinical Associates Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) programme training clinical associate students. The position will report to the Head of Division of Clinical Associates.
- Participate in Blended Learning with remote online learning, face-to-face classroom-based teaching, skills development and clinical training across the undergraduate programs for the Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) Clinical Associate degree
- Visit training sites for purposes of clinical training, in support of preceptors/supervisors on site.
- Pilot the delivery of multi-professional and inter-professional training for the Department of Family Medicine at clinical training sites.

**_Specific Responsibilities for Division of Clinical Associates BCMP programme:_**
1. Teaching and Learning activities for the Division of Clinical Associates
a. Conduct teaching, facilitating & learning for 230 BCMP students
i. Teaching as appropriate for SCMD1001A (84 students), SCMD2001A (92 students), SCMD3003A (57 students).
ii. Preparing and implement problem based learning, case based learning and small group learning
iii. Develop and present blended learning, e-Learning and e-Technology enhanced pedagogies
b. Conducting clinical skills teaching, facilitating & learning
i. Assist teaching skills as appropriate for SCMD1001A, SCMD2001A, SCMD3003A,. Develop clinical skills pedagogies, assist set up Skills lab, SIM lab, set up OSCEs
c. Conduct clinical teaching, facilitating & learning in the clinical setting
i. Assist with clinical training in the wards, OPD, clinical setting
ii. Assist with bedside teaching for SCMD1001A, SCMD2001A, SCMD3003A.
2. Citizenship, Academic and administrative activities
a. Assist in all aspects of curriculum design and implementation including assessment test preparation, invigilating, marking (theory & clinical)
b. Participate, contribute to Division, Department, School and Faculty wide committees
3. Support Research activities related to BCMP programme
a. Develop, draft, submit research protocols
b. Conduct research studies: data collection, questionnaires, interviewing, reports, etc

4. Pursue Professional Development

**Requirements**:

- BCMP or RN or MBChB/MBBCh degree
- 2 - 5 years clinical experience as clinical associate or nurse or doctor.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa or with South African Nursing Council
- Sound knowledge of South African health services
- Understanding of and commitment to primary health care

**Recommendations**:

- 1 year academic teaching experience advantageous
- 2-3 years direct patient care and clinical experience advantageous
- Completion of Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science Education or similar advantageous
