nuGen is in a rapid design and build phase. The build phase is supported by Anglo American, an established global mining company. nuGen will support Anglo American to move to a carbon neutral future as well as offer products and services across multiple industries. There is already strong external demand for nuGen’s solutions. The future is bright and we need to bright, capable people to support our vision, who will contribute to the culture of ongoing collaboration, learning and improvement.

nuGen’s Operations group will initially focus on FEED studies to support effective design, costing and feasibility decisions as well as designing and commencing the nuGen operational readiness processes for the first two Anglo American customers. Within a couple of years, the Operations group will be the largest group in nuGen, with multiple regions, clients and product mixes.

**Job Description**:
This is a unique role leading our first Hydrogen based mining site. You will have overall responsibility of operations on site with a key focus on Health & Safety, Leadership and Comms. The role is based at our mine in Mogalakwena and we have on site accommodation which makes the role commutable from Pretoria, Johannesburg and Polokwane.

**Key tasks**:

- Coordinate the implementation of the customer’s operational readiness program so that NuGen’s products are quickly assimilated into the operating environment. This includes:

- Reviewing and updating the nuGen operational readiness program to ensure it is aligned to the customer’s operating model and site plans/ major events.
- Working with the customer to align on the approach, schedule and cadence for implementation, ensuring customer resource requirements are clear and agreed.
- Participating in the nuGen PMO processes to ensure visibility and alignment of schedules, milestones, reporting, risks, and mitigations across nuGen

Coordinate peers at site to ensure:

- The truck integration and plant / ancillary construction work is aligned to the operational readiness program and that impacts on employees, local labour, site systems, processes and plans are appropriately identified and managed.
- Aligned communication and reporting for all operational readiness activities at site.

Asset Performance - nuGen’s defined assets at customer sites:

- Develop the annual plan and budget for the defined assets
- Participate in the site leadership team to ensure ongoing integration and alignment with the customer.
- Develop any site-specific nuGen standards for asset performance, ensuring alignment with both nuGen and customer requirements
- Lead the operations and maintenance of the defined assets to deliver the plan and targets safely, optimally and in accordance with the annual plan. Ensure any issues or variances to plan are appropriate notified.
- Identify and lead improvement projects for the defined assets.

Safety
- Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure the nuGen SHEC systems and practices meet nuGen, customer and regulatory requirements and are integrated with the customer’s systems and reporting.
- Develop a proactive safety culture.

Compliance
- Ensure compliance to legislative, statutory, land-owner and nuGen’s requirements. Complete statutory testing and inspections as required.
- Ensure the team’s compliance to legislative and statutory requirements

**Qualifications**:
Tertiary Qualification in Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or Mine Processing

**Technical Knowledge**:
Deep knowledge of plant and mining operations
