Oversee/supervise operations of the Machine Shop on a daily basis
- Assist the Manager with planning of day to day jobs for the Machine Shop
- Compile/assist with SOP’s for the Machine Shop
- Ensure that a high quality of work and safety standards are maintained
- Using computerized maintenance management system to plan, track and record daily tasks as well as raising new work requests
- Track manpower utilization and performance
- Ensure the service delivered is of high quality and according to drawing tolerances
- Assist the Manager with coaching the Team in regards with technical support, planning of work, stores requirements, ordering of material and tools for the Machine Shop
- Monitor quality, accuracy and efficiency of teams work in terms of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies and report any issues or possible improvements required to Manager
- Completing urgent/critical jobs as operational requirements demand
- Instruct and mentor staff as required
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers
- Program with Edgecam (Milling and Laths)
- Program and setup Siemens CNC
- Manage team attendance and timekeeping
- Ensure that the machines preventive maintenance is performed and that all equipment is in a good and safe condition
- Quality control on drawings submitted
- Any other tasks or adhoc duties, as agreed with the Manager, suited to this level of leadership

Qualifying Experience:

- Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience
- Minimum 5 years post trade test working experience in a manufacturing / production environment
- Relevant tertiary qualification (N3 or higher)
- Trade Test Certificate
- Working knowledge of OHSA
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
- Good written, verbal and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
- Valid Driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Be fully competent and able to program with Edgecam (Milling and Laths)
- Be fully competent and able to program with G-Codes
- Have expertise on material characteristics
