The Machine Shop department has a vacancy for a dedicated Quality Controller. This role is responsible for conducting quality inspections and ensuring that all work complies with the relevant technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. This role is further aimed at ensuring the highest levels of quality and precision in our machining processes, components, and finished products. The successful candidate will be required to:Inspect the quality and dimensions of all incoming raw materials; allocate to specific work orders and report any concernsInspection of all tooling, gauges and measuring equipment; ensuring that it is correctly calibrated and usedIdentify, report and complete non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implementedEnsure that every product produced is of high quality and conforms to specifications and drawingsMonitor quality, accuracy and efficiency of teams work in terms of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies and report any issues or possible improvements required to ManagerDirect, mentor, coach and guide staff and assist with correcting any performance and quality concernsDrive continuous quality improvements on the shop floorMaintain all inspection documentation, including job cards, deviation reports, and quality recordsAssist in developing and refining standard QC procedures and SOPsUphold ISO and internal quality system requirementsAny other tasks or adhoc duties, as agreed with the Manager, suited to this roleQualifying Experience:Minimum of at least 5 years of Dedicated QC experience in a precision engineering or machining environmentMinimum 10 years post trade test working experience in a manufacturing/engineering/ production environmentStrong knowledge of machining tolerances, drawings (GD&T), and inspection tools (e.g. micrometres, verniers, height gauges).Experience with cast iron and large, heavy components will be an advantageWorking knowledge of OHSAExcellent computer skills (MS Office)Good written, verbal and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnelValid Driver’s license and own reliable transportHave expertise on material characteristicsQualifying Attributes: High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in inspectionsAbility to prioritise workload and perform effectively in a pressurized environmentExcellent team player – able to balance team and individual responsibilitiesStrong acumen of process developmentTime and priority managementExcellent communication skills on all levelsLogical and detail orientatedExcellent standards of executionCritical thinking and conflict resolution potentialCommitment to a strong business ethic and integrityExcellent planning, organisational, and decision-making skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills on all levelsReporting to: Machine Shop ManagerJob type: Permanent positionBenefits include· Provident fund· Life cover at 4x annual salary· Funeral cover· 15 x paid leave days per annum· Long service leave after five years of employmentStandard hours07h30–17h00: Monday – Thursday07h30–16h00: FridayMay be required to work overtime as per operational requirementsSalaryWe offer a highly competitive package depending on the extent of the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
