Operations Specialist: Stockbroking

A multinational Investment Management company is seeking an Operations Specialist with experience in Stockbroking to join their operations team. This role will provide support to the Operations and Dealing desks with local and global settlements, private client dealing and daily post-trade activities.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- BCom, B.Compt, BSC Degree,
- Completion of ideally all / some of the JSE Exams as listed below:

- Introduction to Financial Markets (RPE)
- Regulations and Ethics of the South African Financial Markets (RPE)
- Equity Settlement Officer Exams (JSE)
- Bond Settlement Officer Exams (JSE)
- 5+ years in a stockbroking environment with exposure to investments
- Understanding of Fixed Income and Derivative Instruments
- Advanced Excel, Nutron, Mecras, BDA, & Swordfish

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Ensure appropriate procedures are implemented and necessary action is taken to facilitate settlement of all transactions
- Advise the relevant exchange of any issue that may potentially impact on settlement of a transaction
- Co-operate with the Settlement Authority of the relevant exchange to ensure the efficient and timeous settlement of all transactions
- Deal with and follow up with the relevant stakeholders, including Banks, Clients, and Custodians to ensure transactions are committed to within the specified timelines
- Responsible for monitoring daily post trade settlements for international equity trades and escalate promptly
- Constant monitoring and communication of trade statuses to clients, banks and the relevant exchange where required
- Perform relevant reconciliations and analysis where required
- Perform relevant post trade activities (Trading Desk Allocations, including OMGEO uploads etc)
- Effectively resolve queries as they arise (including from brokers, clients, and custodians)
- Review Client Brokerage Figures for reasonability and update Database with Figures
- Ensure trades are matched between client and counterparty
- Co-ordinate Private Client trading instructions and reporting with trading desk
- Assist with Project related tasks, testing, and implementing new solutions
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), JSE/DR/BCP Testing as required
- Adherence to Specific Internal Rules and Procedures as communicated
- Compiling of incident reports
- Develop and document business processes and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist with payments and updating the Accounting System as required
