A multinational Investment Management company is seeking a Head of Operations to join their Operations Department. This role is responsible for oversight and overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business, including post trade settlements and private client administration across the equities, derivatives, and bond markets, locally and globally. This is your opportunity to join a leading and highly rated Stockbroking team in a critical role which offers excellent exposure and challenges in the Settlements and Operations Management space.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- BCom, B.Compt, BSC Degree,
- Completion of ideally all / some of the JSE Exams as listed below:

- JSE RPE Exams
- Introduction to Financial Markets
- Regulations and Ethics of the South African Financial Markets
- Equity Settlement Officer Exams
- Bond Settlement Officer Exams
- Bond Market Module
- Derivative Market Module
- Members of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers (SAIS) will have a distinct advantage
- 10+ years in a stockbroking environment with exposure to settlements, risk & compliance
- People management experience
- Advanced Excel, Nutron, BDA, & Swordfish

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Dealing with matters escalated by the team, and recognising the need for intervention
- Streamlining of current systems and processes
- Ensure that the proper operational and administrative systems, controls, and processes are in place
- Ensuring client trading lines are set up promptly
- Taking note of relevant JSE Communications and participate in JSE Testing as required
- Analyse the root cause of any possible breaches and recommend preventative measures
- Develop and document business processes and positively contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Co-ordinate and submit annual SWIFT attestation requirements
- Support the Risk and Compliance Officer to assist in embedding a culture of compliance within the business and ensure Compliance with applicable legislation including JSE Rules and Directives, taxation, etc.
- Keep the EXCO and Board appraised of significant matters timeously
- Assist with the co-ordination of the year-end audit as it pertains to the Operations Team
- Ensure the team provides accurate and timeous reporting for inclusion in the Monthly Management Accounts
- Review and sign-off payments as required
- Participate in client engagement presentations, feedback as well as assisting in the management of relationships with key partners, clients and vendors

Team Management
- Provide leadership and oversight over the Administration team’s deliverables as outlined in their individual Role Score Cards
- Responsible for the leading, coaching, and managing of the Administration team
- Implement and manage appropriate structures to ensure the team meet their objectives and delivery
- Ensure team members are adequately trained, as well as assessing and driving ongoing training needs in the team
