Overview: As a Micro Specialist, the role will ensure that the Micro-related aspects of legacy ingredient specification update is reviewed and approved. May also support new ingredient specification development, as capacity allows, to ensure they comply with the standards and requirements from a Micro standpoint. **Responsibilities**: - Micro Specialist / Reviewer for ingredient Specifications. - Learn, understand and uphold the PepsiCo Global Ingredient Standard and Supplier Standard, and become proficient in the PepsiCo systems/IT Applications associated to spec writing. - Conduct gap analysis of legacy specifications against PepsiCo Global Ingredient Standards. Drive gap closure with/through function team members in test method alignments. - Support the Specification Writer on providing guidance to supplier in completing the Micro requirements of the specification in the following key areas: - Ingredient Composition - Claims/Compliance related to Micro - Food Safety Requirements - Test method and limit of Micro parameters - Ingredient Micro sensitive assessment. - Other Spec General information - Review the Micro information and requirements for the ingredients to ensure they are met, identify gaps and request further information and connect with Specification Writer to resolve this with the supplier and work with other Functional SMEs (i.e. Food Safety, Regulatory, QA) as needed for guidance and escalation. - Support the Spec Writer to align stakeholders (i.e. QC, GP) on updates/changes on Micro requirements on the specs. - Validate correct migration of data to the Specification system, includes review of the Micro information and supporting documents/evidence collected from the supplier **System associated activities**: - Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of systems related to creation of specifications as may be required. Report gaps, roadblocks or findings and support on finding solutions and help facilitate closure with IT SMEs. Qualifications: - Intermediate to advanced understanding of Quality Assurance/ Food Safety concepts and good working knowledge of food microbiology. - 2-3 years hands-on micro lab testing with basic understanding on international micro test methods (such as ISO, AOAC, FDA etc.) and have some experience on Lab certifications is desired. - Well-versed on Microsoft Office Suite. - Basic auditing skills that maybe required on reviewing information provided by the supplier. - Confident and able to speak or present to senior leaders when needed. - High Learning agility, self-motivated and has desire for continuous self-improvement. - Team player and works well with cross-functional, cross-regional and cross-cultural teams. - Can work independently and has initiative for problem solving. **“PepsiCo is an Equal Opportunity Employer in line with the Employment Equity Act"
