Dba - Oracle Database Administrator

As an Oracle DBA you will be expected to install Oracle software when required. Creating Oracle databases will also be a requirement. Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels. Other daily function can include starting up and shutting down databases. Database storage structures will also need to be managed. Users and security will form part of your daily activities. You will be expected to manage schema objects, such as tables, indexes, and views. Database backups and recovery forms part of your responsibilities. You will also be required to proactively monitor the database's health and take preventive or corrective action as required. Performance Monitoring and tuning will be a required skill.

**You will have the following Key Attributes**:

- DevOps Experience
- Experience with Application servers
- Ability to work with global teams
- Understanding of ITIL v3, ISO 20000 and ISO27000
- Agile CI/CD toolsets e.g. JIRA, Bamboo, Confluence, Jenkins, etc.
- A self-starter who can operate without supervision when required.
- Grasp Data Architecture’s role in supporting business processes.
- Has strong written and verbal skills ( to build awareness and to proactively promote DBA’s position in support of sound database structures, data governance and other Corporate strategies).
- Strong analytical skills
- SQL database query writing
- Skilled in solving problem and finding solutions
- Multitasking and prioritising essential

**You will also have the following**:

- Expert knowledge:

- Oracle replication (Golden Gate/DataGuard/RAC)
- Oracle internals
- Oracle middleware (OEM/ODI/OWB/APEX)
- Oracle physical database tuning
- SQL tuning background
- Intermediate knowledge:

- Oracle Exadata administration
- backup/recovery using RMAN
- PL/SQL coding background
- logical and physical data models
- partitioning
- Knowledge of Oracle RAC, Cluster Resource software, and Oracle 12C features

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Century City, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (required)

**Experience**:

- Oracle: 3 years (required)
- DevOps: 3 years (required)
- SQL Database query: 3 years (required)
