Position Overview: As an Optics Salesperson, you will be responsible for promoting and selling optical products such as binoculars, telescopes, spotting scopes, and other optical accessories. Your primary objective will be to assist customers in selecting the right optics for their specific needs, provide product information, and ensure a positive buying experience. You will also be responsible for achieving sales targets, building customer relationships, and maintaining a well-organized and visually appealing sales floor.
Key Responsibilities:
**Customer Service**:
- Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance throughout their visit.
- Engage with customers to understand their optical requirements, interests, and intended use for the products.
- Educate customers on different optical products, features, magnification, field of view, and other specifications to help them make informed purchasing decisions.
- Demonstrate proper usage, adjustment, and care of optical products.
**Sales and Product Knowledge**:
- Actively approach customers, promoting and selling a range of optical products to meet individual and store sales targets.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the optical product line, including different brands, models, magnification options, lens coatings, and accessories.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in optical technology, and competitor products.
- Effectively communicate product information, warranties, and after-sales services to customers.
**Merchandising and Inventory Management**:
- Ensure the sales floor is well-organized, visually appealing, and stocked with an adequate inventory of optical products and accessories.
- Regularly check inventory levels, restock merchandise, and notify management of low stock situations.
- Collaborate with the store team to create attractive displays, promotions, and seasonal merchandising to enhance sales.
**Relationship Building**:
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Follow up with customers to ensure their satisfaction, address any concerns, and provide assistance as needed.
- Utilize customer databases or CRM systems to capture customer information and preferences for future marketing initiatives.
**Store Operations and Policies**:
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Operate the cash register accurately, process payments, and handle financial transactions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning and maintaining optical products.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in sales or customer service is a plus.
- Proven experience in a sales or customer service role, preferably in a retail environment.
- Passion for optics, astronomy, birding, or outdoor activities is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple customers simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of optics, including magnification, lens coatings, field of view, and optical terminology.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy objects.
