**Job description**:
To provide student support as a means to enhance student retention and throughput through the provision of curative and preventive psychological and career services.
- Counselling and trauma debriefing.
- Coordination/ Facilitation of Residence Liaison Programme
- Coordination/Facilitation of Student Mental Health programmes
- Professional and ethical client file management
- Professional reports for psychological services provide
- Professional annual reports on job functions in unit**Minimum requirements**:

- Honours degree in Psychology or a BA Social Work.
- Registered with the HPCSA as a Counsellor / Registered Social Worker
- Experience in managing trauma or suicide.
- Managing a crisis line team.
- Experience of working in a student counselling setting.

**Competencies**:

- Professional management of student mental health.
- Ability to support students in distress.
- Knowledge of national and international trends in student mental health and mental health support and interventions.
- The ability to work with a broad range of internal stakeholders and constituents.
- Ability to manage crisis situations.
- Organisational skills and good time management.
- IT Literacy, including familiarity with MS Office and Outlook as well as social media technologies.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

**Recommendations**:

- Ability to develop and manage a crisis line and helpdesk
- Strong prowess to establish new, and maintain existing relations with stakeholders in UJ.
- Knowledgeable regarding crises and student mental health.
