Role Purpose

An IBMi Operational Shift Leader will be responsible for monitoring, escalation, and coordinating scheduled tasks in the IBMi Environment while on shift. Making sure tasks are distributed between him and the two shift controllers. The Shift Leader will take instructions from the Operational Shift Planner and will report to the IBMi Operations Team Leader.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum 1-year IBMi experience

**Understanding of the following will be an advantage**:

- (CL) Control Language
- BRMS
- Full System FlashCopy
- Mimix
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintaining operations by monitoring the performance of Infrastructure and Services for error and stoppage messages. Observing peripheral equipment and entering commands to correct errors, ensuring that service quality is adhered to
- Follow and perform the accurate escalation processes and communicate on the relevant incidents
- Collaborate and work with the infrastructure teams to deliver required service levels
- Investigate, diagnose, and take prescribes actions on all operational events, alarms, and incidents
- Documents problems and actions by completing production logs
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Identify any business risk, fault with systems or services and escalate accordingly
- Maintains unit performance by cross training Operators
- In event of system failures provide first line support
- Update the shift report with all major and outstanding issues
- To ensure that all scheduled tasks are run on time and in accordance with the relevant procedures
- Accuracy with following procedures and requests
- 1st line support after hours
- Monitoring of IBMi Systems
- Various scheduled tasks
- Perform regular Data Centre checks and ensure that all infrastructure is maintained according to policies to function optimally.
- To ensure system checks are done within time scales defined
- Use system operator messages to diagnose and manage problems
- Perform Backups on the IBMi Environment and ensure that all complete successfully
- Support Operational Shift Planner with daily tasks
