Junior Data Manager

**_CHAPS is one of the largest and proudly South African non-government organisations (NGO) focused on voluntary male circumcision (VMMC) as HIV prevention on the African continent. Through its pioneering work in the research and promotion of voluntary medical male circumcision scale-up activities, CHAPS has successfully implemented and disseminated sustainable evidence-based health solutions throughout South Africa and the region_**

**_ CHAPS seeks to appoint a Junior Data Manager, who will support Ekurhuleni and Bojanala_**

**Specific Responsibilities**
- Oversee the entire data team onsite or in office
- Ensure all data functions for data management team are implemented and adhered to
- Provide skills development/capacitation and continuous support/mentoring to data management team
- Conduct weekly/monthly meeting with teams
- Timeous resolution of queries and data discrepancies
- Compile Daily/Weekly/Monthly reports and correspondence and submission
- Attend all relevant stakeholder meetings, workshops, and trainings
- Develop training materials and data management SOP’s
- Ensuring implementation of guidelines, SOP’s, and policies
- Conduct performance management reviews for the data management team
- Ensure and maintain effective stakeholder engagements and communication
- Create a harmonious and conducive working environment for the data management team
- Monitor and analyse data systems and evaluate performance
- Develop and maintain data validation plans. Create and approve validations check to ensure high quality and consistent data
- Assist Project Manager with ad hoc reports and compilation of quarterly review presentations
- Ensure timeous submission of reports by data monitor.
- Track, monitor and ensure DQA’s are conducted as per schedule received
- Ensure submission of all reports post conducted DQA’s.
- Ensure completion and submission of DQA’s QIP’s.
- Daily EDC records quality checking.
- Prompt identification of queries emanating from the EDB.
- Send queries to data monitors for resolution.
- Timeous resolution of queries identified.
- Submitting of at least two data management newsletter contributions per annum

**Education and Experience Required**
- Matric
- Post-Matric qualification relevant to the public health / data management - strong preferential
- Advanced Computer proficiency
- Must have 3 years’ experience in data management or relevant management role.
- Must have knowledge of strategic data planning and analysis.
- Must have strong report writing skills
- Must be flexible
- Must be willing to travel
- Must have strong verbal communication skills.
- Must have strong data technical analysis and reporting skills
- At least 1-year experience with working with RedCap (Developing data dictionaries, updating data dictionaries onto redcap
- At least 1-year experience with working with RightMax/Qodemax (Understanding RightMax/QodeMax reports, QA’ing processes and Query resolutions)

- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- An ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff from all levels.
- A track record of methodical work and meticulous attention to detail.
