The position is based at our Head Office in Westville, Durban.

Thompsons Africa is a Destination Management Company supplying meet and greets, transfers, fully escorted and group series tours, seat-in-vehicle tours, open-vehicle safaris, and FIT services in South and Southern Africa. Our reservations team is knowledgeable, innovative, and committed to exceptional service delivery.

The focus areas of this position are:

- FIT operations and consulting: Successfully putting together quotations and processing bookings, with the focus on service excellence, promotions of sales, and the delivery of unforgettable experiences to our customers and guests.
- Group operations: Providing operational support, contributing to ensuring that all group arrangements are accurately and timeously delivered.
- Promotional packages: Successfully securing and managing inventory.

**Key Objectives**:
The key functions of the Operations Coordinator include but will not be limited to:
FIT operations and consulting
- Checking availability
- Looking for suitable alternatives where required
- Loading bookings into the reservations system accurately and timeously
- Actioning quotes and following up with the customer
- Re-quoting and making amendments when required
- Updating the reservations system with all required information
- Invoicing and attending to account queries
- Conducting reconfirmations
- Conducting quality checks

Group operations
- Adhering to processes and checks
- Compiling, inserting, and distributing rooming lists and services from the reservations system.
- Assisting in compiling final travel documentation for Guides and Team Leaders, as well as documents on the operations of the group such as rooming lists, invoices, etc.
- Assisting consultants with conducting availability checks and with securing alternatives if required
- Assisting consultants with the booking of guides, restaurants, accommodation, transfers, and meals
- Assisting consultants with reconfirmation of accommodation and services

Promotional packages
- Securing inventory
- Ensuring that inventory is secured at the correct rates and room types

**Requirements**:
**Qualification**:

- Grade 12
- A Travel and Tourism qualification is highly preferable

**Essential experience and skills required**:

- Related Inbound FIT and group operations experience
- Experience working with reservations systems
- Strong computer literacy
- Product, destination, and logístical knowledge of South and Southern Africa
- Understanding of the North American market and its requirements and needs
