The Planning and Quality Assurance Unit is seeking an experienced professional to assume a management role in Quality Assurance. The Manager: Quality Assurance will be responsible for enhancing quality across the institution, including Programme Approval, Accreditation and Registration; Regulatory Compliance, Curriculum Development and Review, Assessment, Teaching and Learning, Research, and Student Success.**The main functions include supporting Quality Assurance across the University through managing reviews of academic programmes, academic departments and support services departments, promoting quality, coordinating institutional reviews and programme accreditation processes, servicing University-wide quality assurance structures, and monitoring and improving the effectiveness of the University’s Quality Assurance Management Systems. The role involves close collaboration with academic staff, faculties and academic administration as well as external regulatory bodies.
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree. Preferably a Doctoral degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance in higher education, with at least 3 years at a management level.
- Experience in designing and facilitating programme accreditation of new programmes and reviews of existing programmes.
- Proven engagements with statutory accreditation agencies such as DHET, CHE, SAQA, Professional Bodies and other related accreditation agencies in higher education
- Experience in internal and external reviews, and institutional audits.
- Experience in policy formulation, strategy development, and procedure implementation.
- Thorough knowledge of higher education legislative frameworks, regulations and academic quality assurance processes in higher education.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities include**:
- Lead quality management, ensuring programme alignment with accreditation, compliance, and certification requirements.
- Oversee the submission of proposals for new academic programmes internally and to external bodies, ensuring alignment with national and institutional policies.
- Ensure quality submissions for programme accreditation and re-accreditation.
- Assist faculties in developing new programmes and re-curriculation of existing programmes and modules.
- Oversee internal review processes of academic programmes and departmental reviews, both academic and support services.
- Coordinate institutional reviews, including site visits, develop institutional improvement plans, compile progress reports and Monitor implementation.
- Ensure scheduled maintenance and review of programmes/academic departments/support services departments in line with Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) expectations.
- Regular reporting and maintaining of the University’s Programme Qualification Mix.
- Manage the HEQC and HEQSF Online Accreditation Systems for University submissions
- Provide professional services to University-wide Quality Assurance structures.
- Oversee the website of the Planning and Quality Assurance Unit.
- Promote quality assurance awareness amongst students.
- Compile reports on the activities of the University-wide quality assurance structures for Institutional Quality Assurance Committee and Senate.
- Liaise with national quality assurance and professional accreditation bodies and respond to requests for information on institutional quality assurance matters.
- Contribute to quality enhancement through profiling good practices and identifying areas for improvement in University’s quality assurance policies, procedures and systems.
- Foster strong relationships with internal/external academics, industry experts, and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Stay updated on changes in relevant higher education legislation and policy.
- Contribute to regulatory body and institutional quality assurance activities.
- Uphold compliance with regulatory standards and the Institutional Audit Framework.
- Support institutional functions and fulfill reasonable management requests.
- Contribute to capacity development in the directorate as well as to the academic community on quality assurance matters
- Develop, review and implement the approved quality management framework, guidelines, templates and related policies
- Facilitate workshops related to quality management systems and coordinate report writing.
