John Brown Media, part of the Dentsu Aegis Network Group, is seeking to appoint a digital editor in Cape Town to join the financial and business team. The role reports directly to the digital director and group editor.
John Brown Media is part of a leading global content marketing agency with offices in eleven countries. We produce award-winning, engaging content across digital and print platforms. Our clients include blue-chip brands such as Pick n Pay, Mutual, Life Healthcare, Discovery and Capitec locally, and Waitrose, John Lewis, Orange, RBS Bank, Hannaford and Spinneys globally.

**Key responsibilities**:
Be the custodian of quality content on digital platforms that include a content hubs, mailers and social media
Write top-quality articles and posts that are in line with the client’s brief
Interpret client briefs and deliver to brief
Conceptualise monthly content plans
Attend client meetings and be the client-facing digital point of contact
Brief and commission content
Conceptualise and create social media content in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Upload content via the CMS and implementing SEO best practice
QA and trouble-shooting
Direct technical queries to stakeholders
Make image recommendations and work with the in-house design team to source images
Assist the team with other content requirements on the account when needed
Stay ahead of industry standards and trends and frequently bring new ideas to the table
Explore opportunities to grow traffic, reach and engagement on all digital platforms
Work closely with the rest of the team, looking for synergies and content opportunities wherever possible
Work with the Traffic Manager to ensure a smooth production process
Liaise with the client regarding approvals and content plans in conjunction with the print team, traffic manager and account director

**REQUIREMENTS**:
A degree or diploma in journalism, copywriting or a related field
At least 3-4 years’ experience working as a Digital Editor (or similar role) in a publishing or agency environment
A portfolio of written work that is representative of your writing skills
Excellent command of the English language
A broad general knowledge and flair for financial and/or business content
A good understanding of how to optimise content on different platforms
A love for the digital and social-media space
A clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
A working knowledge of a content management systems, Google Analytics, SEO and basic HTML
The ability to work well in a small team and give direction to designers and writers
A positive attitude, energetic approach and a high level of self-motivation
The ability to prioritise work, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
