Six Capitals ESG Advisory provides solutions to a range of institutional investor, JSE listed, unlisted, non-profit, and governmental organisations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Six Capitals forms part of the Alternative Prosperity Group. We are looking to add a new member to our education practice team which serves as implementing partner to Atleha-edu NPC and to lead our other client and stakeholder education projects. The position will be a hybrid position with some office days required. Due to increased client and stakeholder demand for quality financial education content, we are looking for a full-time Managing Editor who is both experienced and passionate about financial education and its role in improving the livelihood of all South Africans. **Six Capitals currently produces educational content such as**: Financial education - e.g., Atleha-edu publications, short articles and infographics ESG education - e.g., UK PACT-South Africa publications, articles and videos Six Capitals hosts and maintains databases of >5000 unique contacts and manages content distribution via multiple channels. We take our impact seriously. We have a Theory of Change and Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) Framework in place given the need for our clients and funders to understand the impact of our educational content (both awareness and interactive) on our targeted beneficiary database. Managing editor job overview In this role, you will do both strategic and operational work. Strategically you will work with the head of the education practice to grow the reach and impact of content created to our target audiences. Operationally you will be responsible to plan, develop and distribute all educational content developed by Six Capitals to our quality standards and on time. You will also be tasked with ensuring educational content is distributed across multiple media and through the right content channels. As managing editor, you will oversee and manage both internal team members and external service providers responsible for assisting with the following aspects of the content development and distribution process across multiple media and content channels: Maintaining the annual publication plan Content briefs, Content writing, Design and layout, Editing and proofreading, Multimedia developers, including video animators and VR and AR software developers. Distribution and database management, including internal team members and external service providers You will publish and optimise readership and engagement levels of our educational content with our targeted beneficiary audience. You will oversee effective distribution of all educational content ensuring that all content (where applicable) complies with Financial Sector Code (FSC) requirements and ensure successful content distribution and engagement tracking for the purpose of Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) for client, funder and other stakeholder reporting purposes. Managing editor job responsibilities and duties Manages annual publication and content plans Manages production schedules from start to finish across multiple media and distribution channels Manages content development process, across multiple media, from start to finish Manages content distribution process across multiple media and distribution channels, from start to finish Develops content briefs received from clients Develops content based on content briefs Proofreads and edits the work of other content writers Ensures quality educational content projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner Fact checks and verifies information and research Monitors and reports on user engagement, web traffic, and other business unit and/or client KPIs aligned to a formal Theory of Change (ToC) and Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) Manages and updates websites, social media and other online content distribution channels **The managing editor will report into the practice head**: ESG education Managing editor job requirements Bachelor’s degree in journalism, commerce, English, or related field Background in financial journalism and/or ESG Minimum five years’ experience as a managing editor, or similar position Excellent editing, writing and proofreading skills Hands-on experience with MS Office and publishing tools such as Adobe Hands-on experience with online publishing and distribution tools such as Issuu, Rocketmailer etc. Hands-on experience with growing readership numbers and reader engagement across multiple channels Knowledgeable about various social media platforms and SEO Strong communication skills Team player Highly organised **Skills**: Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills (attention to detail) People management - managing an editorial and distribution team, including external service providers Readership and distribution (ability to grow readership and audience engagement) **Strong project management ability**: Planning, prioritising and organisation skills Ability to
