At the heart of what Jakes Gerwel Fellowship (JGF) does is to nurture high impact, expert teachers. These students will graduate from the programme and embark upon collective impact as expert teachers, education leaders and social entrepreneurs to tackle the key systemic challenges that constrain our education system.
**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Events & Logistics Intern to join our team. In this role, you will play a key role in the planning and execution of a variety of events and be responsible for ensuring that logistics are smoothly managed. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the events industry and build your skills in event planning and logistics. One of the purposes of the Events and Logistics department is to uphold the organisation’s reputation in dealing with primary and secondary stakeholders. Together with the Events & Logistics’ specialist, you will be encouraged to immerse yourself in the organisation’s needs and deliver high quality results.
**Objectives of Role**:
- Researching and booking venues.
- Arranging transportation and accommodation for attendees.
- Assisting in the planning and logistics of events, including venue selection, vendor management, and budget tracking.
- Assisting in the setup and breakdown of events, including setting up audio-visual equipment, arranging decorations and signage, and managing transportation and parking.
- Coordinating food and beverage services.
- Providing on-site support during events, including troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.
- Assisting with event evaluations and post-event wrap-up, including data collection and reporting.
- Communicating with attendees, vendors, and staff to ensure a smooth event experience.
- Performing administrative tasks, such as maintaining event schedules, managing databases, and preparing reports.
- Prepare event materials, such as agendas, signage, and presentations in collaboration with Media & Communications.
**Experience and Qualifications**:
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree or diploma program or recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree / diploma in event management, hospitality, or related field.
**Competencies**:
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Should have an interest in event planning and a willingness to learn about all aspects of event production and logistics.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Should have initiative and ownership of duties.
- Familiar with event planning and logistics.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn (laptop provided).
- Ability to handle confidential information and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Passion for communications and media, with a commitment to staying up to date on industry trends and developments.
