**_ Position Purpose:_**

To ensure implementation of healthcare principles and systems in order to promote and maintain the

highest degree of physical, mental and social wellbeing of all employees in order to maximise

productivity.

**_ Position outputs:_**

1. Plan and develop protocols, standards and guidelines for Occupational Health services to

ensure compliance to statutory legislation and company policies.

2. Manage subordinates to ensure business objectives are met

3. Provide wellness programmes that lead to the promotion, protection and restoration of

employee’s health within a safe working environment
4. Manage and monitor the medical surveillance programme in order to identify, treat early all

occupational diseases thus ensuring healthy individuals that are productive.

5. Assess and manage absenteeism cases to ensure corrective measures and action plans are

put into place.

6. Provide input in the business continuity plans to ensure disaster cases are managed and

referred accordingly Transnet National Ports Authority

7. Manage and drive HIV programmes and projects to notify management on future plans for

human and budgetary resource allocation

8. Prepare and manage all expenditure of the occupational health budget to ensure effectiveness

of the service and to maintain statistical records.

9. Manage the Occupational Health Clinics in the order to ensure that service delivery to clients is

of high-quality standard

10. Coordinate and communicate with internal and external service providers and other

stakeholders to ensure collaborative effort in human health management

11. Act as a resource and advisor to management and staff regarding health care services that are

provided to employees

12. Compile report and statistics to advise management of prevalent health trends within the

organisation

13. Supervise the development and maintenance of accurate and up to date medical record

system to ensure safety and confidentiality of medical information

14. Evaluate performance, coach, support and counsel Occupational Health staff as necessary.

15. Plan to promote and supervise the implementation of prompt and effective medical assistance

to employees in acute and medical conditions

16. Co-ordinate the training of management and peer educators to ensure support for all port

planned activities and projects.

17. Compliance to statutory requirements by regular auditing of drug registers, dispensing

licences, registration certificates, calibration certificates etc.

18. Represent Occupational Health to management meetings to provide health input.

19. Maintain a regular stock check-equipment, medicines and sundries to ensure budgetary

requirements

20. Deal with all correspondence that is required for external consultants/auxiliary services e.g.,

hospital referrals, doctor referrals SANCA etc.

21. Ensure clinic staff are kept abreast of all latest developments and statutory requirements that

may or have changed.

22. Draw up a business plan for Health services

23. Develop and Key performance Areas for staff, guide and monitor Individual developments

plans

24. Coordinate the HIV Research project for the business

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
- Science- B-Tech in Occupational Health or

Diploma in Occupational Health
- Nursing- Dispensing Licence
- Certificate in Primary Health Care
- Certificate in Audiometry
- Certificate in Spirometry
- Code 8 drivers’ licence
- Valid Registration with SANC

Minimum of 5-10 years relevant
