We are seeking a seasoned

Technical Systems Specialist

for Datonomy Solutions. This role encompasses

designing, implementing, and maintaining highly complex systems

within our organization. Key responsibilities include:

Systems Management and Engineering


  • Providing technical administration and support expertise for system upgrades, change requests, and overall structure and operations.
  • Managing overall availability, structure, and content of central systems.
  • Coordinating and performing change assessments, attending to change control boards, and providing required change documentation and procedures.
  • Planning and coordinating installation, upgrades, configuration, development, and testing of systems and relevant technology to ensure overall stability and reliability.
  • Coordinating and driving the creation and updating of system documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Managing the GK Store Manager in the production environment to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Supporting security vulnerability mitigation or investigation processes, researching possible solutions, and implementing required security measures.


Incident and Vendor Management


  • Providing expert-level technical support, managing, and ensuring resolution of all logged incidents/problems within the area of technology according to agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) and quality standards.
  • Ensuring that all incidents are logged to various vendors and 3rd parties, and ensuring vendors provide relative feedback on all stages of the query resolution as per the agreed SLA.
  • Managing and coordinating 3rd-party or technology partner/vendor technical support activities on installations, upgrades, or to resolve escalated incidents.
  • Ensuring vendors comply with Shoprite standards and best practices.
  • Resolving any escalated security incidents timeously.
  • Managing available Vendor hours as per support contract.


Training Support


  • Providing technical GK system training to IT Field Support Engineering teams as and when required.
  • Guiding, coaching, and supporting internal and external teams to ensure efficient systems integration and/or facilitating learning of new technologies and processes.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Relevant industry or system certifications.
  • +6 years' experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role with expert-level knowledge and extensive experience in designing, implementing, administering solutions, and system support for highly complex Point of Sale systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of POS system administration within a large system infrastructure environment.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office 365.
  • Solid functional experience in incident response, diagnostic activities, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Action Plans, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Experience with scripting and/or automated deployments using Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.
  • Experience with Linux, SQL, Java, C#, Python, Apache Tomcat technologies.
  • Experience with GK POS.

  • Advanced knowledge and application of skill in optimal technical support, demonstrating sound skills in technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Expert Technical aptitude with a passion for engineering systems.
