Job Description:

Role Summary:

The Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the quality assurance and quality control processes of the project on behalf of EDF Renewables, in accordance with the requirements of the EPC contracts and the Employer's Requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, audit and monitor the implementation and performance of the Contractor's Project Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Management Plan (PQMP)
  • Ensure that the Contractor develops and maintains an effective quality management framework to demonstrate compliance with agreed Project procedures and contractual requirements
  • Advise, assist and follow up on quality management matters and performance of the quality management system with Project Team members
  • Manage the Project quality team, ensuring that resources in the quality team are adequately skilled for tasks
  • Monitor the Contractor's operational Quality Control/Inspection services, including subcontractors
  • Keep up-to-date on standards, regulations/laws, issues and news with respect to product/service quality
  • Support Contractor activities in fulfilling their quality requirements

Reporting Relationships:

The position reports directly to the Project Manager and Corporate QA Manager

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' work experience in renewable projects at site level
  • Previous experience as Quality Manager on a large-scale utility project is a definite advantage
  • Tertiary qualification in the quality field is compulsory
  • Excellent working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System, SANS 19011 and OHS Act and its Regulations
  • Good report writing ability, with good spelling and grammar acumen

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong negotiating ability with workforce and community
  • Sound knowledge of MS 365 Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams
  • Excellent analytical thinking with focus on goal achievement, innovative and enquiring mind
  • Diligent in meeting timelines, proactive and high level of entrepreneurship, energy level and motivation
  • Good team worker with sense of the common good, detail oriented and able to follow up on details

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Ability to act objectively and independently, excellent communication skills in both oral and written English
  • Additional local language skills are an advantage

Implementation:

Responsible to monitor the strategic implementation for the Contractor's quality assurance and quality control activities

Initiate and follow-up on non-conformities documented within the NCR register for the Project

Review the Contractor root cause analysis following identification of defects

Ensure that the Contractor quality records are accurate and delivered promptly at the required stage

Execution:

Actively support and apply the Project Health and Safety policy and procedures to achieve Zero Harm within the Project

Ensure the contractor(s), their subcontractors and agents carry out all activities in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with the project Health and Safety plan
