Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Manager to oversee our ballistic testing operations in Northern Cape. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supervisory roles, with a strong background in explosives technology and mechanical engineering.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling the safe and accurate conducting of all foreign tests, ensuring data is captured and recorded correctly. They will also be responsible for checking and confirming accuracy of data reports before despatching them to clients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analyse and interpret technical requirements from internal and external stakeholders/clients to ensure accurate quotations and test planning.
  • Manage and control the safe and accurate conducting of all foreign tests and ensure that data is captured and recorded correctly.
  • Check and confirm accuracy of data reports before being despatched to clients.
  • Manage the Alkantpan Marketing and Stakeholder Strategy.
  • Manage all Foreign technical requests and liaise with all foreign clients.
  • Manage all Operational Safety aspects at Alkantpan Test Range as appointed by the DoEL.
  • Manage the ISO 17020 Inspection Body and its Technical Signatories.
  • Manage the overall Alkantpan Risk Management plan.
  • Manage Risk Assessments for all explosive related actions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Explosives Technology or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Postgraduate degree in Business management is an advantage.
  • ISO 17020 certification as Approved Inspection Authority Manager and Technical Signatory is an advantage.
  • 6-8 years' experience in Ballistics testing on large scale with various types of weapons ammunition for both local and international clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma in Explosives Technology or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification in Quality Assurance.
  • Proven experience in project management.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around R750,000 - R1,000,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additional benefits may include medical aid, retirement fund, and paid leave.
