Network Security Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Network Security Specialist to join our team at Deka Minas (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining network operations software, applications, and appliances.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will have expertise in designing, configuring, and maintaining on-premise and cloud-based network storage in production and disaster recovery environments. Additionally, they will develop complex data extracts using various security solutions, create reports, build dashboards, and data visualizations using different data tools, and troubleshoot any errors in reporting or extracting.
Key Responsibilities- Design and configure network operations software, applications, and appliances, including operating systems, firewalls, VoIP, content filtering, spam filtering, layer 2 & 3 core switches, routers, Wireless controllers/AP, and routine maintenance programs.
- Maintain all on-premise and cloud-based network storage in production and disaster recovery environments.
- Develop complex data extracts using various security solutions and ensure requirements are developed in accordance with specified business and technical requirements.
- Create reports, build dashboards, and data visualizations using different data tools.
- Troubleshoot any errors in reporting or extracting.
- Heavy involvement with creating the organization's disaster recovery plan, a procedure that IT employees follow in case of emergency.
- Serve as lead engineer and point of contact in support of the IU RWAN and connections to customer school entities.
- Responsible for timely and appropriate equipment changes for the purpose of fulfilling service requests.
- Make recommendations to management on enhancements to existing and new security hardware, software, or related tools.
- Assist in evaluating, planning, configuration, and implementation of new/existing security applications/tools.
- Create and maintain data security documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the identification, response, investigation, and remediation of potential breaches of and issues surrounding data security.
We offer a competitive salary range of R600,000 - R900,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with excellent benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
