Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical support to customers in the molecular diagnostics field. The Instrument Engineer will work out of the Abbott Molecular division, a leader in molecular diagnostics and the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins at the molecular level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform local technical support on assigned molecular instruments and systems, including installations, deinstallations, relocations, certifications, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle complex problems independently, scheduling appointments with customers, ensuring necessary goods and spare parts are available, managing logistics, and executing necessary actions to deliver a qualitative service in accordance with Abbott specifications and customer Service Level Agreements.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical problems reported by customers remotely, and provide on-site support when necessary.
  • Prioritize, plan, and execute field corrective actions, upgrades, and preventive maintenance on Abbott instruments and systems according to regulatory instructions and mandatory procedures.
  • Support local Field Service Engineers with technical guidance, advice, and knowledge to maximize knowledge transfer and contribute to the technical development of Field Service engineers.
  • Attend technical forums for instruments and systems within the field of expertise, share information on practical situations, and give feedback on encountered problems within the region.
  • Explain the content of service contracts to customers, its terms of condition, benefits, and pricing to raise awareness on the content of technical support related to Abbott instruments or systems and advantages of service contracts.

Requirements

  • University degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Medical Technology, Biomedical, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license is essential.
  • Minimum two years of field experience.
