Senior Pump Applications Specialist

Job Purpose:

The role of Senior Applications Engineer in the Pumps sector involves providing sales and marketing, technical support for commissioning, operation, and maintenance of installed pumps. This includes handling repairs and spare parts, as well as coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Provide technical input and support for quotes and tenders regarding pump selection, pricing, and costing
  • Supervise installation and commissioning as required
  • Standardize technical sections of quotation and tender documents

Customer Service:

  • Respond to all client requests within 24 hours
  • Identify improvement areas and implement strategies with management approval
  • Take immediate action on non-compliance issues
  • Provide installation, commissioning, operating, and maintenance assistance as requested
  • Conduct pump efficiency test campaigns and distribute reports to stakeholders

Testwork and Marketing:

  • Partner with R&D in conducting test work and reviewing reports
  • Presentations are delivered to customers as required
  • Support market activities and report on them as per departmental requirements

Administration and Quality:

  • Prepare call reports and distribute them to stakeholders in time
  • Submit all expenditures according to company policy
  • Prepare management reports by due date as required
  • Maintain adherence to QA/QC procedures and internationally accepted standards

Team Support and Requirements:

  • Coach and train colleagues as required
  • Mechanical engineering degree or diploma, or completion of a mechanical-related trade test; sales and marketing qualification advantageous
  • At least 5 years' experience within the pumps industry
  • Minimum of 7 years in either sales or business development role
  • Valid driver's license, willing to travel locally and internationally
