Senior Program Manager, Operations for Marketplace Fulfillment

Overview: In today's marketplace, a significant portion of products available are sourced from independent sellers, primarily small to medium-sized enterprises, offering a wide array of choices, competitive pricing, and convenience for consumers.


Role Summary: Amazon South Africa's Marketplace Team is in search of a skilled Senior Program Manager to spearhead operational enhancements within our Merchant Fulfillment Network (MFN) and to shape the overarching product and program strategy for MFN in South Africa.


About MFN: The Merchant Fulfillment Network encompasses various initiatives where Amazon collaborates closely with a diverse range of sellers to facilitate product shipping from their storage facilities. This position emphasizes the enablement and standardization of processes throughout MFN operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define clear objectives, metrics, and procedures to monitor and enhance program performance and results.
  • Design, implement, and automate both new and existing processes in a consistent and scalable manner, utilizing global resources to drive improvements tailored to local requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strategize and execute external fulfillment solutions.
  • Regularly present operational metrics to the leadership team.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between performance and objectives.
  • Engage with key business partners, including Transportation, Product, and Worldwide fulfillment channel teams.
  • Pinpoint critical operational areas for enhancement based on data analysis and develop actionable solutions with the team.
  • Formulate the MFN strategy, including Easy Ship and Self Ship, in collaboration with the team.
  • Establish routine reporting processes and meetings with relevant stakeholders and leadership to assess performance and outline future strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in (Industrial) Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, or any transferable project management roles.
  • Familiarity with startup operations.
  • Experience working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proficiency in defining and executing process improvement initiatives utilizing data and metrics.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, engaging with multiple stakeholders across various organizational levels.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in (Industrial) Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Ability to generate, analyze, and draw insights from data.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL.
