About the RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated lawyer with expertise in banking law, commercial recoveries, and litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to clients, managing complex legal challenges, and driving legal processes.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience as a practicing attorney, preferably from a leading law firm in the fields of banking & finance, corporate & commercial. Strong academic credentials, including an LLB degree or equivalent, are essential. Additionally, admission as an attorney is required, ideally within a corporate or investment banking legal environment or reputable banking and finance legal practice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice on banking law, commercial recoveries, and litigation matters.
- Manage high court and magistrates court litigation, including defended actions and opposed applications.
- Conduct research on commercial law, financial law, and banking law matters, and provide opinions where necessary.
- Negotiate and finalize settlement agreements on behalf of clients.
- Vetting and drafting of contracts.
- Briefing counsel when necessary and making occasional court appearances if required.
- Build, manage, and maintain client relationships.
- 3-5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- Significant experience from a leading law firm in one or all of the following environments: Banking & Finance, Corporate & Commercial.
- Strong academics.
- LLB degree or an equivalent appropriate legal qualification (preferably an LLM).
- An admitted attorney, ideally within a corporate or investment banking legal environment or reputable banking and finance legal practice.
