Business Unit: Tax Management Services (TMS)

Reporting to: Head of Tax Technology, Transformation and Innovation

Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of this role is to provide a wide range of tax process and technology advisory services to a large portfolio of clients. This includes working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver tax technology projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic operational support for Data and Analytics solutions, including database administration and backup.
  • Perform the Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) process of financial data for tax technology projects.
  • Troubleshoot and debug ETL components, including SQL, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, and other solutions.
  • Visualise data sets for analysis using data visualisation tools such as Power BI and QlikView.
  • Assist with the execution and improvement of local/global solutions and other product offerings.
  • Design and develop data models for automation and analytical purposes.
  • Drive efficiencies through automation and enablement of technology for tax reporting requirements using technologies such as UIPath, Alteryx, Power Platform, etc.
  • Analyse and understand the flow of transactional data across financial systems and how they impact the company's direct and indirect tax declarations and obligations.
  • Advise clients on how to sustain tax data quality standards in financial systems to enhance tax processes, operations, and effectiveness of tax reporting.
  • Prepare clear, sound, accurate working papers and reports containing work procedures, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Review the configuration of ERP systems for the management of direct and indirect tax to ensure conformity with relevant standards.
  • Contribute to pursuit/sales efforts to meet budgetary targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CA (SA) or B Comm Degree or Information Technology degree.
  • At least 4 years relevant experience in a tax and/or accounting and/or data engineering/analytics.
  • Basic understanding of data management concepts.
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of accounting and/or tax technology tools.
  • Good command of key IT tools, particularly MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of various accounting information systems, including but not limited to, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc. (data extraction experience is essential).
  • Understanding of various data and analytical tools, including but not limited to, QlikView, Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Azure, and/or other data query and dashboarding solutions.
  • Understanding of various process automation tools such as UIPath, Alteryx, Power Platform.
  • Should have good data analytical and interpretational skills, numerical and research skills (data and analytical skills).
