Job Title: Senior Tax Consultant

At KPMG-SouthAfrica, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Consultant to join our team. As a Senior Tax Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing tax process and technology advisory services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational support for Data and Analytics solutions, including database administration, backup, and restore.
  • Perform the Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) process of financial data for tax technology projects.
  • Troubleshoot and debug ETL components, including SQL, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, and other solutions.
  • Visualize data sets for analysis using data visualization tools like Power BI and QlikView.
  • Assist with the execution and improvement of local/global solutions and product offerings.
  • Design and develop data models for automation and analytical purposes.
  • Drive efficiencies through automation and enablement of technology for tax reporting requirements using tools like UIPath, Alteryx, Power Platform, etc.
  • Analyze and understand the flow of transactional data across financial systems and their impact on tax declarations and obligations.
  • Advise clients on sustaining tax data quality standards in financial systems to enhance tax processes, operations, and effectiveness of tax reporting.
  • Prepare clear, accurate working papers and reports containing work procedures, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Review the configuration of ERP systems for direct and indirect tax management to ensure conformity with relevant standards.
  • Contribute to pursuit/sales efforts to meet budgetary targets as part of a team to meet with clients to sell tax technology.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • CA (SA) or B Comm Degree or Information Technology degree.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in tax and/or accounting and/or data engineering/analytics.
  • Basic understanding of data management concepts.
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of accounting and/or tax technology tools.
  • Good command of key IT tools, particularly MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of various accounting information systems, including SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc. (data extraction experience is essential).
  • Understanding of various data and analytical tools, including QlikView, Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Azure, and/or other data query and dashboarding solutions.
  • Understanding of various process automation tools such as UIPath, Alteryx, Power Platform.
  • Good data analytical and interpretational skills, numerical and research skills (data and analytical skills).
